22 Indonesian players go to Myanmar

According to Indonesian media, the Indonesian team has left for Myanmar to prepare for the opening match of the 2024 AFF Cup. The Indonesian team will face Myanmar in the first match of Group B, at 7:30 p.m. (Vietnam time) at Thuwunna Stadium (Yangon).

It is known that the Indonesian team moving from Jakarta to Myanmar consists of 22 players. These are all players who trained in Bali before. The 4 players who have not gathered yet include: Asnawi Mangkualam (Port FC, Thailand), Rafael Struick (Brisbane Roar FC, Australia), Justin Hubner (Wolverhampton, England) and Ivar Jenner (Utrecht, Netherlands).

Asnawi Mangkualam and Rafael Struick will fly straight to Myanmar to join the Indonesian national team. Meanwhile, the duo of naturalized players Justin Hubner and Ivar Jenner still do not know whether they will participate in the AFF Cup 2024 or not. Accordingly, the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) has not been able to convince Hubner and Jenner's home clubs to release them. Because the AFF Cup is not part of the official FIFA tournament system, clubs have the right to refuse to let players serve the national team.

However, coach Shin Tae-yong still decided to include Hubner and Jenner in the list. This is considered a confusing decision by the Korean coach. Mr. Shin made a risky choice, accepting the lack of 2 players in the force (in case Hubner and Jenner are not allowed to return to the Indonesian team at the upcoming AFF Cup 2024).
