The Can Tho City ODA Project Management Board (ODA Board) has just reported on the review and resolution of backlog projects, projects that have been suspended, and projects that have been delayed for a long time, invested by this unit.

According to the ODA Board, with the Mekong Delta Urban Upgrading Project - Can Tho City Sub-project (Project 2), there are still some unfinished and suspended packages, including: Lighting system, parks, trees, water supply; Bung Xang Lake water supply system and Bung Xang Lake construction package (embankment, roads, drainage).

The ODA Board proposed to hand over the completed Bung Xang Lake items in their current state to the Ninh Kieu District People's Committee for receipt and management. For the unfinished items, the Board proposed the City People's Committee to assign the Ninh Kieu District People's Committee as the investor and use the budget in the coming time to complete the construction.

Regarding the Can Tho City Development Project and Urban Resilience Enhancement (Project 3), the ODA Board said that some packages have not been completed and have stopped construction, including: Construction of Can Tho River embankment from Km1+600 to Km3+00; renovation of Ba Bo, Dau Sau, Hang Bang canals and Hang Bang branch; renovation of Muong Cui, Xeo Nhum, Nga Bat and Muong Lo (91B); renovation of Ong Ta, Xeo La, Cay Me, Ong Dao, Tu Ho and Sao canals; some remaining items related to the Tran Hoang Na bridge project such as the National Highway 1A intersection, parallel roads, residential roads, etc.

Can Tho ODA Board said it is carrying out procedures to request an extension and adjust the project towards restructuring capital sources, and will complete these items after the project is approved for adjustment.

Previously, Tien Phong reported that in late March and early April, due to the influence of high tides, water from Bung Xang Lake overflowed the banks, flooding the road along the lake ( food street), affecting people's travel and daily activities, even though it was the dry season.

Project 2 in Can Tho has a total investment of over VND 1,850 billion (ODA capital of about VND 1,433 billion, counterpart capital of about VND 420 billion), including the Bung Xang lake project of over VND 220 billion. The project is implemented in 4 districts to renovate and implement urban technical infrastructure in low-income areas, reduce flooding... The project ends (according to the agreement) in 2017.

Project 3 is implemented in the period of 2016-2024, with the goal of protecting Can Tho City from prolonged flooding, promoting safe and environmentally friendly urban development... This project has a total investment of more than 9,167 billion VND. Of which, the World Bank (WB) loan is more than 5,697 billion VND, non-refundable capital from Switzerland is more than 91 billion VND and counterpart capital is more than 3,378 billion VND. The project ends (according to the agreement) in June 2024.
