Xiaomi has just officially stirred up the smartphone market with the launch of Redmi 15 5G, the latest product in the strategic Redmi phone line.
This phone not only impresses with its huge external size but also something equally huge inside.

Using the word giant doesn't seem like an exaggeration, the Redmi 15 5G is reminiscent of 7-inch tablets that double as phones like the old Galaxy Tab.
Even the largest flagship on the market right now, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, feels more compact next to the Redmi 15, largely due to its wider 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Size is the product's unique selling point in this sub-5 million segment.

The back of the device looks quite familiar, similar to previous designs of Oppo and Vivo. The luxurious aluminum rectangular camera cluster contains three vertically arranged circles.
Despite its large size and comfortable feel, the Redmi 15 5G is surprisingly thin at just 8.4mm. This is a remarkable technical achievement as the device contains a 2000mAh larger battery than the Redmi 13 (8.3mm thick). However, with a weight of 217 grams, the device can cause fatigue when used for a long time. The device is also equipped with IP64 dust and water resistance, the highest level of protection against dust ingress and splash water.
144Hz display, performance and software
Redmi 15 5G has a 6.9-inch FHD+ LCD screen, the largest in the price segment, with quite large screen borders. The most prominent feature is the 144Hz refresh rate, appearing for the first time in the price range of about 5 million, bringing an extremely smooth experience.

The only downside is the 850 nits maximum brightness, which works fine indoors but struggles a bit when used outdoors.
Powering the device is the Snapdragon 685 processor. In real-world use, the Redmi 15's response is very fast, and the device stays cool even when multitasking heavily. Overall application performance is so good that you might forget that this is a budget device. The device can handle games to a certain extent, but users should not expect too much from powerful tasks.
In terms of software, the device runs HyperOS 2.0 on Android 15 platform, integrated with modern AI features such as Gemini and Circle to Search, which are new experiences for typical Redmi users.
Xiaomi promises 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches. While HyperOS is notoriously heavy, it performs surprisingly well on the device with smooth animations, although there are occasional stutters when multitasking, which is completely acceptable.
Main star: 7000mAh battery and breakthrough technology
It’s no coincidence that Xiaomi has put the 7000mAh battery at the center. This is the only Silicon-Carbon battery in the segment, a technology usually only found in high-end phones. Inspired by electric vehicle batteries (like those in the SU7 and YU7 models), Xiaomi claims the battery can maintain 80% of its capacity after more than 4 years of charging cycles.
The actual battery life can last a little over 2 days on a single charge. Notably, the Redmi 15 5G can also act as a power bank, providing 18W wired reverse charging, enough for iPhones, smartwatches, wireless headphones, and even more expensive Android phones. The device supports 33W fast charging and comes with a corresponding charger in the box.

Camera: Inherited from flagship, formidable quality
The 50MP dual camera system on the back promises to make competitors worry. Although there is no Leica logo, Xiaomi has applied the image processing optimization experience from the flagship Xiaomi 15 Ultra to the Redmi 15. The result is photos with beautiful colors, moderately adjusted sharpness and interesting liveliness, especially in colorful environments.
However, the camera tends to play it a little too safe in some lighting conditions, which can affect the depth of shadows. Still, the photos are easy to edit to get the results you want. On the front is an 8MP selfie camera. Both the front and rear cameras can shoot 1080p video at 30fps.
After about two weeks of use, reviewers say their initial impressions of the Redmi 15 5G are very positive. This is a real entertainment machine, an extremely attractive choice for those who want to own a phone with a large screen and a "buffalo" battery without having to spend too much money.
The device has almost no major drawbacks, except that the 144Hz refresh rate is limited to supported applications and the camera is not very good. In addition, this is a device that can maintain stable performance, battery life is measured in days and the large screen is a perfect space for everything from entertainment to work.
