During the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, the opening moment was assigned to the air force with a special mission: a helicopter squadron carrying the Party flag and the national flag flying in the sky of the capital. Carrying out this mission are the Mi-171, Mi-17 and Mi-8 helicopter squadrons of Regiment 916 (Division 371), Regiment 917 (Division 370) and Regiment 930 (Division 372), Air Defense - Air Force.
From Hoa Lac airport, helicopters took off in the trusting eyes of their comrades, carrying the sacred symbol of the Fatherland into Ba Dinh Square. Before departure, the atmosphere at the airport was tense but full of determination. Technical work, coordination, and vehicle inspection were all carried out closely, reflecting careful preparation for the important flight. The air force in this year's parade did not only have flag-carrying helicopters. The CASA C-295 and C-212i squadrons demonstrated their transport mobility; the Yak-130 and L-39NG training squadrons showed off their combat flying skills; while the Su-30MK2 fighter squadron performed high-tech maneuvers, creating an impressive highlight in the sky of Hanoi .
Departing from Hoa Lac, Gia Lam and Kep airports, the entire formation entered Ba Dinh Square, opening the air force portion of the celebration. These were moments that fully captured the sacred, heroic spirit and pride of the nation on National Day. The flight crew members consulted before takeoff. At exactly 6:40 a.m. on September 2, a squadron of helicopters including Mi-171, Mi-17, and Mi-8 flew in a formation of 10 carrying the Party flag and the national flag towards Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi.
At 7:30 a.m. on September 2, 10 helicopters completed their mission in the A80 ceremony and returned to land at Hoa Lac airport (Hanoi).
