RMIT University will deploy the investment under a 250 million AUD strategic fund for Vietnam, first announced in 2023 during the official visit to Vietnam by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

The new commitment aims to expand the doctoral scholarship program, supporting graduate students to obtain international standard degrees right in Vietnam. This is considered an important step towards building high-quality human resources in the fields of science , technology and innovation, contributing to the implementation of the goals of Resolution 57-NQ/TW on human resource development.

“We have made a real impact over the past 25 years, graduating nearly 25,500 students who are ready to contribute to the prosperity of the country,” said RMIT Chair Peggy O’Neal. “This investment underscores our commitment to strengthening research collaboration in Vietnam.”

According to Professor Scott Thompson-Whiteside, General Director of RMIT Vietnam, the investment not only promotes domestic research activities but also creates opportunities to connect Vietnamese experts with international expert networks, forming an environment for knowledge sharing and innovation.

With more than 12,000 students, 1,300 lecturers and nearly 25,500 alumni, RMIT Vietnam is now the largest campus of an Australian university abroad. This 25-year milestone marks the direction of expanding research, linked to the mission of making a deeper contribution to the development of Vietnam.
