First unveiled in December last year, the H1 is Unitree Robotics’ first humanoid robot. The company is best known for its dog-like, four-legged robots. In its original form, the H2 stood 6 feet tall, weighed approximately 100 pounds, and could carry up to 66 pounds of cargo. Each of its legs can rotate 5 degrees of freedom thanks to joints at the hips, knees, and ankles. Joints at the shoulders and elbows allow each arm to rotate a total of 4 degrees of freedom, according to New Atlas .

The robot captures 360-degree images of its surroundings using the Intel RealSense D435i depth camera on its head and the Livox MID360 LiDAR (ground-penetrating radar) module. Data from these devices is analyzed in real time by the Dual Intel Core i7-1265U processor. In addition, the robot can maintain balance and walk continuously, even when kicked.

In a video shared by Unitree Robotics on March 1, the latest version of the H1, Evolution V3.0, can do more. It can walk quickly on a flat surface at a speed of 3.3 meters per second. According to the company, this is a new world record for a full-size humanoid robot. Compared to the H1, Agility Robotics' bipedal robot Cassie set a sprint record in 2022 when it covered 100 meters in 24.73 seconds, with an average speed of 4 meters per second (14.4 km/h). However, Cassie is basically just a pair of legs and a head, not a full-size humanoid robot. Tesla's full-size humanoid robot Optimus only reached a speed of 0.6 meters per second.

In addition to walking fast, H1 Evolution V3.0 can also jump (full body coordination), go up and down stairs and jump high like a human.
