TBM No. 1 uses Earth Pressure Balancing (EPB) technology, helping to drill through Hanoi 's complex geology while maintaining the excavation face's stability. Engineers call it a “modern giant”, possessing the world’s most advanced sensor system, robotic arms and sealed pressure chamber. (Photo: Fecon) Along with TBM No. 2 - nicknamed "bold", the two robots are specially designed to handle weak ground, underground water and high population density in Hanoi. (Photo: Fecon) Putting TBM into construction is a big step forward for Vietnam's urban infrastructure construction industry, taking the initiative from assembly to operation for the first time.
