A Venezuelan military plane carrying members of the Yanomami indigenous community, medical staff and crew crashed in the southern state of Amazonas, killing seven of the 10 people on board, the India Times reported, citing information from the Venezuelan Ministry of Defense .
The plane that crashed deep in the Amazon jungle belonged to a Venezuelan air force unit that supports remote indigenous communities in the region.

Rescue forces were quickly dispatched to the scene after the accident. Among the victims was the plane's co-pilot, while three soldiers, including the pilot, were lucky to survive.
The initial cause of the accident is believed to be a technical fault. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the tragedy.
Earlier, on July 24, a twin-engine An-24 aircraft carrying 49 people, including 43 passengers and 6 crew members, crashed during a flight over Amur, Russia's Far East, killing all on board. The plane was en route from Blagoveshchensk to Tynda when it crashed.
It is known that the An-24 in the incident belongs to the fleet of local airline Angara Airlines.
