The bustling spring festival

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism announced that it is coordinating with various organizations to hold a series of tourism events to celebrate the New Year and the peak Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday season in 2024. During these days, not only domestic but also international tourists are flocking to the city as it enters its peak period for attracting foreign visitors.

At Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Park (Ho Chi Minh City), more than 150 amusement and entertainment facilities have been renovated, upgraded, or newly constructed to meet the needs of tourists during the Tet holiday.

According to Ms. Bui Thi To Trinh, Deputy General Director of Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area, the spring festival will take place from February 10th (the first day of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon) with a series of special entertainment programs such as: lion and dragon dance performances, EDM water music at Tien Dong beach, and a parade titled "Prosperous New Year - Enduring Wealth and Fortune in the Double Dragons"...

Dam Sen Cultural Park will host a series of events themed "Dam Sen Tet - Tet Returning to Childhood" from February 9th to 18th. Visitors can watch the artistic fireworks display on New Year's Eve at Dam Sen with a flat ticket price of 70,000 VND. This Tet holiday, Dam Sen will also launch a Tea Garden space located in the middle of a cool, green lake - where visitors can enjoy tea and listen to melodious music from traditional instruments like the zither and bamboo flute.

The Da Nang Department of Tourism announced that the Dragon Bridge's fire and water show will be held continuously on the nights of February 9th to 13th (from the 30th of the lunar month to the 4th day of Tet). The Han River Bridge will rotate its spans to allow boat traffic on the nights of the 1st and 2nd days of Tet. Asia Park will offer free entry and hold a spring market called "Happy Tet Market" from the 2nd to the 10th day of Tet. The Mount Than Tai Hot Spring Park will hold the God of Wealth Festival from the 1st to the 5th day of Tet.

To enhance Hanoi's tourism appeal, the Hanoi Department of Tourism has developed a plan to organize the event "Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2024 - Get on Hanoi 2024" and the 2024 Friendship Spring Festival program. Contributing to the enrichment of Hanoi's tourism products, the Hanoi Management Board of Historical Sites and Scenic Spots has launched the "Ngoc Son - Mysterious Night" night tour at Ngoc Son Temple. The highlight of this tour is the combination of the ancient architecture of the Ngoc Son Temple, a special national historical site, and the rituals and folk legends passed down at the site.

International tourism is booming.

The Da Nang Department of Tourism estimates that the total number of tourists during the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday will reach nearly 362,000, a 23% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Of these, international tourists are estimated at 172,000.

Da Nang International Airport announced that it expects approximately 894 flights to Da Nang from February 8th to 14th, a 16% increase compared to last year. On the first day of Tet (Lunar New Year), the city will welcome its first international flight from Don Mueang, Thailand, operated by Vietnam Airlines. International tourists arriving in Da Nang by sea during Tet are also numerous. From February 7th to 14th, three cruise ships docked at Tien Sa port, bringing a total of 3,400 Chinese tourists to visit tourist attractions in Da Nang.

On the afternoon of February 1st, many major travel companies in Ho Chi Minh City, such as Saigontourist, Vietravel, TSTtourist, Vietluxtour, and Kiwi Travel, were preparing for the peak Tet holiday travel season.

Mr. Pham Quy Huy, Director of Kiwi Travel Company, said that many tourists are taking group tours for a relaxing vacation combined with year-end celebrations, with many tours having itineraries until the 25th or 26th of the lunar month, visiting numerous destinations across the country. In particular, this year, Tet tours to Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan (China), etc., are receiving a lot of attention due to relatively stable prices and diverse destinations.

Saigontourist Travel Company expects to welcome approximately 28,000 tourists during the Lunar New Year (Year of the Dragon). This includes 256 domestic tour groups, a 30% increase, and 198 international tour groups, an increase of over 50%. The company also noted positive signals from the international market, particularly in the cruise tourism sector, with the Celebrity Solstice cruise ship bringing 2,300 passengers and crew members to Vietnam. During the peak Lunar New Year season, Saigontourist Travel Company's domestic tourism sector sees a significant influx of Vietnamese tourists and a large number of overseas Vietnamese returning home to explore the three regions of Vietnam.

Do not raise prices without permission.

Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that the department has issued a document requesting travel agencies and tourist areas and attractions to focus on welcoming tourists in conjunction with stimulus programs. They are prohibited from arbitrarily raising prices for tour programs and services provided to tourists; and should limit the postponement or cancellation of tour programs.

"Tourist attractions in the area such as Dam Sen Park, Suoi Tien Park, and the Saigon Zoo need to proactively develop plans to coordinate with relevant agencies and local authorities to ensure the security and safety of tourists and prevent pickpocketing and robbery," Mr. Hoa said.
