At the ceremony, Venerable Danh Dong - Standing Member of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Kien Giang province, Chairman of the Association of Patriotic Monks and Monks in Kien Giang province, together with delegates, Buddhists and Khmer people, reviewed the legend and meaning of the moon worship ceremony.

The Moon Worshiping Ceremony, also known as Ok Om Bok, is one of the three major ceremonies of the Khmer people; it has a profound meaning in the spiritual life of the Khmer people, expressing people's feelings for the god of nature who helps people protect crops, regulate the weather, bring good crops and prosperity.

Organizing the moon worship ceremony aims to preserve cultural traditions, introduce and promote unique cultural features imbued with the identity of the Khmer people.

Vice Chairman of Go Quao District People's Committee Trang Hong Nghia said that up to now, Go Quao district has 5 communes meeting 19 advanced new rural criteria, including 3 communes with a large Khmer population: Thoi Quan, Dinh Hoa, Vinh Hoa Hung Nam. The rural appearance has improved a lot, and the people's lives in the area have been increasingly improved.

This result was achieved thanks to the participation and contribution of Khmer people in implementing the criteria of new rural areas and advanced new rural areas. Vice Chairman of Go Quao District People's Committee Trang Hong Nghia praised the Association of Patriotic Monks and Nuns of Kien Giang Province, the Association of Patriotic Monks and Nuns of Go Quao District and the efforts and striving to achieve many achievements in labor, production, study and work of Khmer people.

In the coming time, the two-level authorities in Go Quao district will continue to pay attention to directing the building of a strong political system in the ethnic minority area, synchronously implementing solutions to contribute to improving the material and spiritual life of the Khmer people in the coming time.
