The bright blue of Vovinam at the Thanh Hoa Sports Festival 2025

VHO - More than 300 martial artists showed off their traditional green shirts at the opening ceremony of the Vovinam tournament at the Thanh Hoa Sports Festival 2025, opening a series of exciting, attractive and sports-filled competition days.

On the morning of October 11, at the Thanh Hoa Provincial Labor Culture House, a bustling sports atmosphere spread when the opening ceremony of the Vovinam tournament, one of the important competitions of the 10th Thanh Hoa Provincial Sports Festival in 2025, officially took place.

More than 300 athletes and coaches from 18 delegations from localities across the province, wearing the traditional blue color of Vietnamese martial arts, which has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, gathered in a space filled with energy, martial spirit and national pride.

This year's Vovinam tournament brings together 28 competitions, including 18 weight classes for men and women, along with diverse martial arts events such as: Ngu Mon Quyen, Long Ho Quyen, Tu Tuong Co Phap, Song Luyen, Da Luyen Ba Tay, Women's Self-Defense...

Right after the opening ceremony, the athletes entered the qualifying round with many exciting and spectacular matches. Each punch, kick, and move was executed decisively, demonstrating the careful preparation, determination, and love for Vovinam of the Thanh Hoa martial artists.

According to the Organizing Committee, the tournament is not only an opportunity to encourage the Vovinam training and competition movement in the whole province, but also to improve professional qualifications, evaluate training work in localities, and select outstanding faces to supplement the Thanh Hoa Vovinam team to prepare to participate in the 10th National Sports Festival in 2026.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duy Tu - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa emphasized: "The Vovinam tournament within the framework of the 10th Provincial Sports Congress is an opportunity for us to look back at the strong development of the martial arts movement in general and Vovinam in particular in the province. Each martial artist today not only competes for medals, but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity, bravery and aspiration of the people of Thanh Hoa."

Mr. Tu added that the culture, sports and tourism sector will continue to pay attention to and invest in developing the Vovinam movement from the grassroots, aiming to spread Vietnamese martial arts more strongly in schools, agencies and communities.

According to the plan, the tournament will end on the afternoon of October 12 with a closing ceremony and awarding of prizes for the competitions. The achievements of the delegations will be counted in the medal tally of the 10th Thanh Hoa Provincial Sports Festival, contributing to creating a panoramic picture of the rich and vibrant sports movement of the locality.

Not only a competition venue, the Thanh Hoa Vovinam Tournament 2025 is also a testament to the strong vitality of Vietnamese martial arts heritage, where sportsmanship, national pride and Thanh Hoa's will blend together, creating a sports festival imbued with identity.
