Combining technology to create interactive books to enhance the experience is the current trend of some units producing books for children. In addition, interactive books also bring special benefits to children under 6 years old.
For children under 6 years old, everything they learn is through their senses. This is an important gateway for children to develop abilities related to cognition, movement, emotion and language.
According to Master of Psychology Le Ngoc Bao Tram (Lecturer of the Faculty of Psychology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City), during the period from 0-6 years old, children get acquainted with and explore the world around them through 5 senses, including: sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch.
These five senses are formed right from the fetal stage, helping the baby connect with the environment in the mother's womb and the mother. After birth, these five senses will continue to develop and perfect their functions.

“Along with learning, after the age of 3, the child's brain development continues, until the age of 5-6, the child's brain size is almost as large as an adult's. This explains why the age of 0-6 is considered the "golden period" for children to develop cognitively, physically and linguistically through the gateway of the senses. The more sensitive the senses are, the faster and more accurate the process of receiving and processing information from the surrounding environment will be,” said MSc. Le Ngoc Bao Tram.
In recent times, audio books with themes of natural sounds, city sounds, animal sounds... have had a huge attraction for children, pulling them away from phones and televisions. Through fun sounds and vivid illustrations, children develop their hearing and vision, and develop their rich imagination.
At the same time, when pressing the sound buttons and moving their hands according to the illustrations in the book, children also develop fine motor skills of their hands. In addition, with simple, bilingual content, children will be equipped with more vocabulary.
Smart interactive books help children from 0-6 years old develop their vision through vivid illustrations, flip-open details, pull-push-slide to stimulate vision... |
In addition to audio books, other types of interactive books such as touch-and- discovery books, flip-and-discovery books, and moving books also contribute to the completion and development of the remaining senses such as: vision, touch, smell, and taste. MSc. Le Ngoc Bao Tram believes that although each sense has different characteristics and superior functions, they complement each other. Impacting a certain sense will also help increase the effectiveness of the other senses.
