On the morning of July 20th, the "Childhood by the Window of Books" program took place at the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Vietnam Women's Publishing House.
The event is an opportunity for children and parents who love books to interact and chat about Bé Thông's picture books and the "When Children Are Authors" series, to better understand how young authors in Da Lat draw and write such books.
These publications were all developed and published by the " Book Window" library and publishing project, from the creative stage to the writing process, and then published by the Vietnam Women's Publishing House.
The more one grows up surrounded by nature, the more easily one's heart is moved.
"Little Pine" (author: Thanh Tam, illustrator: Windy Truc Hoang) tells the story of Squirrel and Rain's journey to discover the wonders of pine trees, guided by a tiny "forest spirit" that emerges from a pine cone.
The book also concludes with 10 interesting facts about pine trees, such as: pine trees are symbols of resilience and hope; pine resin is used to heal wounds in pine trees...
Following the characters in the book, young readers will learn more about nature, develop a love for lush green pine forests, and find creative ideas to cherish the beauty of nature.

Ms. Thanh Tam said that the idea for this book came from the poem "The Little Girl Calls the Color Blue" to express the authors' views on educating children.
"Once love blossoms / It is also the seed of separation / The little one will know / The first sobs / The older they grow in nature / The more their heart trembles / The little one will have to cry / When they see a bird in pain / When they see a green tree being cut down / When they see a squirrel losing its home...".
"When children grow up surrounded by trees, they will naturally develop a deep attachment and love for nature. If they happen to lose a 'tree friend' or 'animal friend' who was once very close to them, they will inevitably feel hurt, but 'the green is still here / as long as we believe in them.'"
"Our enduring educational philosophy is to believe in children. Because only those who love nature can feel pain. Pain transforms into strength to draw closer to nature. These books will gradually instill a love of nature in young children through various emotional experiences," Ms. Tam shared.

All children have vivid imaginations.
The "When Children Are Authors" book series includes many works written and illustrated by children aged 8 to 14, with content about nature, the environment, friendship, and family. Among them, " The Mysterious Library" was awarded the Cricket's Aspiration Award 2024.
The mysterious library was created by young Sinh Hung (born in 2010) from his genuine friendship with his dog Lu, his cat Luna, and imaginary friends from environmental literature.
Or consider the book "The Brown Bear's Journey," illustrated by Nha Uyen (born in 2016, the youngest member of the author group) with adorable drawings depicting the journey of the Brown Bear getting married and then traveling around; and the touching friendship between the Brown Bear and the Grizzly Bear.

Nha Uyen candidly shared that her mother, Thanh Tam, encouraged her a lot when she was drawing. Although her drawings certainly couldn't be as perfect as those of professional artists, her mother always encouraged her to use her imagination, which motivated her to draw even more.
Xuan Nhu Y, author of "The Children in the Misty Land," shared her thoughts: "The works in ' When Children Are Authors' are the result of our efforts and those of the teachers (members of the 'Book Window ' project). The teachers told us that all children are the same, all deserve to be trusted, to be creative, and to have a voice."
We used to be children who lacked confidence in drawing, but because our teachers always encouraged us and acknowledged our achievements, we are able to stand here today.
"I believe that if young children know how to dream and have people to help them realize those dreams, they will achieve even greater success than we have now. Books are a place where we can connect with each other and create precious emotions in life."
