Saigontourist Group targets high growth as international tourist flows recover

On June 28, at the conference to review the tasks of the first 6 months of the year and the direction of implementation for the last 6 months of 2024, Mr. Truong Duc Hung, General Director of Saigontourist Group, said that the business results of the first 6 months of the year of the corporation achieved many improvements in all important indicators such as number of visitors, revenue, and profit.

In the first half of 2024, Saigontourist Group welcomed and served over 923,000 visitors, an increase of 12.8% over the same period last year. Total revenue reached over VND 7,770 billion, an increase of 6.2% over the same period.

Total gross profit reached 1,936 billion VND, up 7.4% over the same period. Growth was recorded in all types of accommodation, travel, culinary , entertainment, conference and seminar services... Business efficiency was improved thanks to increased revenue and reasonable cost control.

In 2024, Saigontourist Group aims to serve over 2 million visitors, with total revenue of over VND 16,500 billion and total gross profit of over VND 4,330 billion.

To achieve this goal, Mr. Pham Huy Binh, Chairman of the Board of Members of the Corporation, said that the last 6 months of the year is the peak "sprint" season, the company will continue to proactively develop business scenarios to promptly respond to market developments, exceeding the set targets, with an average increase of over 14% compared to 2023.

"The pressure in the current market is that purchasing power is still sluggish. Therefore, we direct units to focus on developing new products and services to meet customer needs and market trends; prioritize the development of green product lines, sustainable development...", Mr. Binh emphasized.

According to Mr. Nguyen Le Phuc, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, this June, international visitors may reach about 1.4 million, bringing the total number of international visitors to Vietnam to 9 million in the first 6 months of the year. This positive picture is the foundation for Saigontourist Group to achieve its set goals.

A representative of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration also said that countries that attract a large number of visitors and have a high rate of returning visitors depend a lot on strategies and synchronous solutions for sustainable tourism development.

Vietnam does not develop tourism at the expense of the environment and culture, but must follow a sustainable trend and be responsible for the country. Therefore, he suggested that Saigontourist Group pay special attention to product lines that promote and preserve natural values and indigenous culture for a green environment.

Highly appreciating the results achieved in the first 6 months of the year, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung requested Saigontourist Group to continue to pioneer in implementing programs of association and cooperation in tourism development with localities nationwide.

The unit also needs to focus on connectivity, especially creating new tour products, connecting road tours, river tours, and sea tours. Research, build products and connect satellite tourist destinations in districts and towns in the city.
