Vietnam's first airport completes 100% automation process

On the morning of March 20, at Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT) handed over the Autogate Immigration Control System to the Immigration Department ( Ministry of Public Security ). This is one of the important steps in the airport modernization strategy, towards a smart airport terminal model, helping to optimize the aviation check-in process, reduce waiting time and improve passenger experience.

Accordingly, the Autogate system will help reduce the pressure on the control force with a fully automated process; improve safety and security with an advanced biometric identification system. After handover, the system will be officially operated at Da Nang International Airport, helping to optimize the flow of international passengers, while ensuring accuracy and safety in the control process.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Thi Minh Loan, Head of Logistics Department, Immigration Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that this is an important milestone for the strong transformation in the application of science and technology in state management in general, and immigration management in particular. The deployment of the automatic immigration control gate system will contribute to simplifying immigration procedures; shortening and saving time for passengers to complete immigration procedures; reducing pressure on authorities and bringing a convenient experience to Vietnamese citizens and foreigners when entering and exiting Vietnam.

Mr. Do Trong Hau, Deputy General Director of AHT, said that this event marks an important step forward in modernizing the immigration process, helping to improve the quality of passenger service and optimize airport operations. "The Autogate system will maximize its efficiency, contributing to building Da Nang International Airport into one of the pioneering airports in technology in Vietnam and the region," said Mr. Do Trong Hau.

The Autogate system will shorten waiting time and enhance safety, contributing to creating a good impression from the first minutes when visitors set foot in the city. This innovation not only contributes to improving the quality of aviation services but also helps Da Nang continue to affirm its position as a modern, friendly and attractive tourist city, contributing significantly to attracting more and more international visitors to Da Nang and other tourist destinations in the Central region through the Da Nang International Airport.

As an important aviation gateway of the Central region, Terminal T2 - Da Nang International Airport is gradually completing the smart terminal model, applying modern technological solutions to optimize operations and enhance passenger experience.

In 2024, AHT cooperated with FPT Software to deploy an intelligent monitoring and operating system, integrating real-time data. The outstanding technologies deployed include: Self-check-in counters and self-baggage drop-off counters to help passengers proactively operate and save time; automatic boarding gates minimize staff intervention. AI camera system monitors passenger density, providing data to the operations department to effectively regulate passenger flow. Video call kiosk system and multilingual lookup screen support passengers to find information more easily. In particular, with the handover of 4 automatic immigration gates to the Immigration Department, Da Nang International Airport has become the first airport in Vietnam to complete a 100% automated process from airline check-in to baggage check-in, immigration procedures and departure gates.
