The number of visitors expected today is more than 132,000, higher than the last 2 weekends. Of which, 87,915 are departing (including 64,696 domestic visitors, 23,219 international visitors), 44,172 are arriving (including 21,487 domestic visitors and 22,685 international visitors).
These days, the flow of people returning to their hometowns to celebrate Tet has caused Tan Son Nhat airport to be crowded with passengers from dawn to late at night. In addition, the chain reaction caused by fog and bad weather in recent days has caused many flights to Thanh Hoa, Hue, Da Nang, Hanoi , Vinh, Buon Ma Thuot, Da Lat, etc. to be delayed.
A quick report from the Tan Son Nhat Airport Operations Center shows that from 0:00 on February 1 to 16:00 on February 3, 659 out of 1,103 scheduled flights at this airport were delayed (accounting for more than 50% of the total number of flights). In addition, 40 flights were canceled due to weather reasons.
From early morning on February 5, 2024, the number of people queuing up to check in at the check-in and baggage check-in counters of Vietnam Airlines , Bamboo Airways and Vietjet Air was crowded. The online check-in areas of many airlines were also crowded. To support people and passengers, to minimize congestion at the airport, the Youth Union of Tan Son Nhat International Airport has mobilized to support passengers such as: guiding passengers, assisting passengers in putting their belongings through the scanner and providing flight information, collecting strollers for passengers...
Mr. Nguyen Nam Tien, Deputy Director of Tan Son Nhat International Airport said: "As every year, at the end of the year, the airport also coordinates with units to organize a conference to unify flight operation plans during the New Year and Lunar New Year. At the same time, the airport offers plans suitable to the actual situation such as plans for low, mid and peak periods".
According to the Deputy Director of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the domestic terminal during the Lunar New Year will also have as many passengers as every year. "The highest expected number is more than 140,000 departures/arrivals, about 900 flights/day, with peak days possibly increasing to 950 flights/day" - Mr. Nguyen Nam Tien said./.
