On June 14, the Office of the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province announced that the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 648/QD-TTg approving the Master Plan for the development of the national airport and airport system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, including Thanh Son Airport, Ninh Thuan province.
Thanh Son Airport is included in the Master Plan for the development of the national airport and air cargo system for the period 2021 - 2030.
The People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province determined that the addition of Thanh Son Airport planning to the Master Plan for the development of the national airport and seaport system for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, will help Ninh Thuan fully complete 5 modes of transport (currently, the locality has modes of transport such as road, rail, seaport, and inland waterway).
Thanh Son Airport will help remove traffic infrastructure bottlenecks, opening up new growth drivers to promote local socio -economic development, defense and security.
Currently, the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province is directing the acceleration of the construction of the Project on socialization of investment and exploitation of Thanh Son Airport in parallel with the completion of the detailed planning of Thanh Son Airport with the desired roadmap to soon put civil aviation into operation at Thanh Son Airport in the period from 2023 to 2025.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the working delegation surveyed Thanh Son airport in early 2022.
In order to create favorable conditions for Ninh Thuan province to call for investment in Thanh Son Airport, contributing to the effective implementation of the approved national airport and seaport system planning, Chairman of Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Tran Quoc Nam has sent a document to the Prime Minister to agree to assign Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee as the competent State agency to implement Thanh Son Airport investment in the form of PPP in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction at Point b, Clause 3, Article 2, Decision No. 648/QD-TTg dated June 7, 2023 on approving the Master Plan for the development of the national airport and seaport system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
Thanh Son Airport is currently a level 1 military airport, located in the west of Phan Rang - Thap Cham City. The airport's land area is about 2,187 hectares, relatively large enough to ensure the implementation of aviation projects.
