Mobile phone coverage has been enhanced in the park along the Perfume River.

Network operators are strengthening their infrastructure.

According to reports, in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the demand for mobile data in Hue increased sharply. Specifically, along the Perfume River embankment roads such as Le Loi, Le Duan, Tran Hung Dao, and at the fireworks display locations on New Year's Eve, tens of thousands of residents and tourists simultaneously accessed the internet to film, livestream, and share their New Year's celebrations.

To meet this demand, Viettel Hue has deployed nearly 60 additional base stations and mobile base stations to key areas. High-configuration 5G base stations are deployed at major events to ensure fast and stable transmission speeds.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Quang, Director of Viettel Hue, said: “We have installed 26 new 5G base stations and deployed 45 solutions to supplement network resources to serve residents and tourists. In particular, key transportation routes such as the La Son - Tuy Loan expressway, national highways, and coastal areas have had their coverage enhanced to meet the increased communication demand during Tet.”

Beyond short-term service, in 2025 and early 2026, Viettel Hue added a total of 324 5G base stations across more than 40 wards and communes, making Hue one of the localities with the widest 5G coverage, creating a foundation for digital transformation and smart cities.

Similarly, VNPT Hue has also implemented numerous measures to ensure the security of communication. Mr. Nguyen Anh Chien, Deputy Director of VNPT Hue, said that the unit has inspected all infrastructure, optimized the network, and developed contingency plans for all situations.

“We are strengthening the monitoring of equipment systems and network traffic, and proactively coordinating bandwidth, especially in inner-city areas, festival venues, highways, and areas with large numbers of people returning home. At the same time, personnel are on duty 24/7 to handle incidents and ensure the best possible service quality for customers,” Mr. Chien said.

Postal services speed up.

Not only telecommunications, but the postal sector is also entering its peak season with a surge in goods due to increased demand for online shopping and sending Tet gifts.

During the Lunar New Year holiday, approximately 13,000 to 14,000 postal items are processed and transported daily through the city's post office.

According to Hue City Post Office, the volume of postal items before Tet increased by more than 25% compared to the same period last year. Each day, approximately 13,000-14,000 postal items, equivalent to nearly 15 tons of goods, are processed and transported.

According to Ms. Huynh Thu Lan, director of the Thuan Hoa post office, the volume of goods during this period has increased two to three times compared to normal days. The unit has increased staff from transaction processing to handling and transportation; arranged sufficient vehicles and organized work in shifts to ensure progress.

"We prioritize the smooth flow of goods within the day, ensuring that parcels reach people before Tet, preventing congestion or backlogs," Ms. Lan said.

Mr. Mai Van Muoi, Deputy Director of Hue City Post Office, further shared that the unit has proactively organized rational production, allocated sufficient means and personnel to ensure smooth transportation. In particular, postal services for Party and State agencies are strictly controlled, ensuring safety, accuracy, and timeliness, effectively supporting operational work.

Tighten cybersecurity

The cybersecurity monitoring systems operate continuously at the Hue-S Smart City Monitoring and Operations Center.

In addition to infrastructure upgrades, cybersecurity efforts were also intensified during the Tet holiday. Cybersecurity monitoring systems operated continuously to detect and promptly address potential cyberattacks, spam messages, and malicious content.

Mr. Bui Hoang Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, shared that the department has requested network operators to increase bandwidth and set up base stations at tourist destinations, amusement parks, and major festival venues.

In particular, the information security monitoring system of the Hue-S Smart City Monitoring and Operation Center, in coordination with the police force, continuously monitors activities in cyberspace, helping to detect and quickly handle incidents, ensuring a safe digital environment for citizens and the government.

"We maintain a 24/7 leadership and technical on-call system, ready to respond to any incidents. The goal is to ensure reliable communication to effectively support the city's leadership and management, as well as the needs of the people," Mr. Minh said.
