“Ceramics - Where hands tell stories” is a workshop space in Tan Ninh ward, Tay Ninh province, run by 25-year-old Nguyen Minh Hy. Minh Hy explains: “Our hands cannot speak, but they can help create products from great ideas.”

Minh Hy graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, majoring in Chemical Engineering Technology. Once when he came into contact with a ceramic vase, he fell in love with it and started to learn about it. Minh Hy always wanted to learn more about ceramic glaze, ingredients, transformations, and effects on products.

While doing his graduation project, Minh Hy and his group of friends worked many times in ceramic workshops - both handmade and industrial - in Lai Thieu (formerly Binh Duong ), which made him even more passionate about ceramics.

He had a plan to bring pottery to Tay Ninh so that more and more people would know about it, but the cost was not enough, so he went to work and gradually saved up capital to realize his dream. During that time, he also learned more techniques of pottery decoration, how to use hand and electric turntables, and glaze processing techniques from workshops and artisans in Lai Thieu,...

Ceramic products are completed and waiting to be fired.

Early this July, Minh Hy launched a pottery workshop space in Tan Ninh ward and was well received by many people, especially young people. “I want to have a comfortable space for you to create, learn about pottery and appreciate the products made by your own hands,” he said.

Minh Hy is not the first person to bring ceramic workshops to Tay Ninh. However, with the mindset of a young person who wants to try, he is not afraid of failure. Not stopping at the ceramic workshop, many new projects are being nurtured by the young man and will be implemented in the near future with the desire to create a creative space in many fields as well as "go further" with ceramic products.

Although it has just started operating, the workshops are always crowded with participants, sometimes up to 20 people a day, Minh Hy has to work until almost 12 midnight to finish.

“I have found comfort and joy in creating with pottery, so I want to bring this to many people. I want everyone, after a tiring time of work and study, to come here to relax by immersing themselves in pottery products,” Minh Hy said.

At Minh Hy's workshop, customers can choose from 3 service packages to experience: Create a shape, apply glaze and take it home; create a shape and send it to be fired; create on a product that has been shaped and fired. Minh Hy will guide customers through the steps of creating, decorating, and applying glaze to the product.

Guests attending the pottery workshop

Tran Minh Anh (residing in Lam Dong province), during an internship in Tay Ninh, followed a friend to experience Minh Hy's workshop. From 11am to nearly 4pm, Minh Anh meticulously made an apple-shaped cup and was very satisfied with her product.

Nguyen Khoi Nguyen (living in Tan Ninh ward) came to the workshop to create products for 2 days. "The first time I experienced it, I found it a bit strange and quite difficult to make a specific item, but in return, I had the joy of chatting with friends" - Khoi Nguyen said./.
