With many different forms, suitable to the conditions of each locality, farmers' associations in Ha Tinh have creatively built many fundraising models, contributing to building an increasingly strong association.
Funding is not a decisive factor but has a great impact on the quality of life as well as the organization of activities of grassroots farmers' associations. In reality, mobilizing members to contribute to the fund is still difficult, especially in mountainous areas, remote areas where farmers' income is not yet stable. In such conditions, many farmers' associations in Ha Tinh have many creative ways to raise funds, contributing to being more proactive in organizing activities such as helping members borrow capital, visiting and giving gifts to sick and disadvantaged members, etc.
Thuong Tu Association (Bui La Nhan commune, Duc Tho district) collected 16 million VND for the association fund from the land borrowing model for production in the summer-autumn crop of 2023.
In Duc Tho district, in the 2023 summer-autumn rice harvest, farmers in Thuong Tu Association (Bui La Nhan commune) welcomed double joy when the rice crop was good and prices were stable. Moreover, the 1-hectare production model on Trot Chay field to raise funds for the association's activities earned 16 million VND from the sale of commercial rice.
Mr. Phan Hung - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Bui La Nhan commune shared that in the summer-autumn crop of 2023, the Farmers' Association of the commune realized that many families with fields in Trot Chay field intended to abandon them due to the low-lying characteristics and difficulty in production, so they mobilized and guided the Thuong Tu Association to borrow land from rice-growing households to raise funds for activities. This policy was highly approved by the commune leaders and encouraged by supporting a portion of rice seeds. Production not only helps the association have more funds but also limits the situation of abandoning land and wasting resources. The model is also a form of demonstration to create a movement for local people to boldly produce.
“On the part of the farmer members, people enthusiastically participate in production, each labor session such as: building embankments, sowing seeds, weeding rice, fertilizing... attracts dozens of participants. Thanks to good care, the rice crop is bountiful, the price is good, after deducting expenses, the association earns 16 million VND for the association fund. Through evaluation, this fundraising method is very effective. The commune Farmers' Association is looking for more models to guide other associations to implement, especially to replicate the model of borrowing land for production in the coming seasons" - Mr. Hung said.

In Hoa Hai commune (Huong Khe), the Farmers' Association of Village 11 raised funds by taking on the task of dismantling, building and roofing a 3-room, 12-meter wooden house for another member in the area. Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Hoa Hai commune Nguyen Xuan Truong said that most of the members of the village enthusiastically participated, each person had a part to play, so the task was quickly completed. Notably, although the contract was 12 million VND, the people agreed to support the homeowner with 4 million VND, only taking 8 million VND as wages. This activity not only helps the association have a source of operating funds but also contributes to building a more united association, affirming the role and position of the organization and attracting more people to participate in association activities.
Farmers' Association of Village 11, Hoa Hai Commune (Huong Khe) accepted to dismantle and roof a house for another member's household to raise funds.
In addition to village 11, all other branches of Hoa Hai commune have creative fundraising models in addition to regular contributions such as: labor pouring concrete ditches, planting acacia, dredging intra-field canals...
All the chapters in Hoa Hai commune have creative ways of raising funds for the association.
The above creative fundraising models have helped associations and branches have a stable source of funds, thereby confidently and proactively organizing many meaningful activities. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Hoa Hai commune shared that the annual fund will be used to visit and give gifts to sick and disadvantaged members; organize exchange activities... In particular, the branches will also set aside a part of the fund to support members in difficulty to borrow capital for production, buy seedlings and livestock. Although each loan is only from 5 to 8 million VND, it has really motivated many poor farmers in the area to improve their lives.
In the model of producing 3 summer-autumn rice samples to raise funds at Branch 6, Dau Lieu Ward (Hong Linh Town), when the trees were pruned, more than 60 members participated in taking care of them.
Mr. Tran Trung Thanh - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association said that due to the general income of farmers' members being difficult, many grassroots associations in Ha Tinh have found good and creative ways to raise funds. In particular, the most popular form is borrowing land for production, undertaking a number of items in new rural construction, building agricultural and traffic infrastructure; collecting scrap; planting forests... The Provincial Association encourages grassroots associations to replicate creative and effective fundraising models and methods; at the same time, directs farmers' associations at all levels to guide units to develop regulations on fund management and use based on consensus of members, thereby affirming the role and position of associations at the grassroots level.
