The workshop aims to create a literary forum, analyze and evaluate the values and achievements of literature about the resistance war against the US to save the country, summarize lessons learned, and at the same time point out the limitations and shortcomings of literature on this topic over the past 50 years, and provide directions, encouragement and motivation for writers to continue writing about this topic in the coming years.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Colonel, writer Nguyen Binh Phuong, Editor-in-Chief of the Army Literature Magazine, Vice President of the Vietnam Writers Association , said that the resistance war against the US was the fiercest war in the history of the Vietnamese people's resistance against foreign invaders, and literature, following the Vietnamese people's ancient inheritance, actively participated in this war.
"Dissecting a literary theme on the subject of war does not mean stopping at the scope of analyzing specific stories or analyzing the movement of the genre, but from the realities distilled through literary works, we have the opportunity to see the situation of our nation at that time, to see how the Vietnamese people, from each individual to the whole community, responded to that situation in the most difficult and fierce moments. Looking at it like that, we can see how the Vietnamese people aspire for unity and peace , to understand the value of today", Mr. Phuong said.
According to writer Pham Duy Nghia, literature is a special “army”, which has pioneered on the front line against the US. Hundreds of writers and poets volunteered to go to the battlefield, holding both guns and pens, dedicating their youth and literary talent to the Fatherland. The fiery atmosphere of “going on the road” outside of life was breathed into literature, condensing and shining into epic images symbolizing patriotism in works with a pure revolutionary ideal. Literature has built characters like halos in the epic sky, shining the light of ideals, guiding readers towards the noble and heroic.
During the war, literary works were born in time to be present, cheering, encouraging, and inspiring the courage of those who directly fought with guns. After the country was unified and peaceful, literature, with its conscience, continued to reflect and portray the beauty of the Vietnamese people during the war, while at the same time seeking to mend the wounds and the mental ravages left by the war; and analyzing, evaluating, and finding lessons to educate the tradition for the future.
The conference attracted about 50 elaborate and quality papers and articles, including new interpretations and research. This shows that literature on the topic of the resistance war against America continues to attract great attention and interest.
Critic Hoang Dang Khoa affirmed that the papers presented at the conference once again confirmed that revolutionary literary works were not exaggerated or exaggerated when reflecting the resistance war against the US, but reflected it truthfully and vividly as it was, clearly showing that the Vietnamese nation is a great nation, the Vietnamese people are heroic people, and the resistance war against the US of the Vietnamese people is a sacred resistance.
"Literature written about the anti-American resistance war within the resistance war has excellently fulfilled its mission of serving the war and encouraging fighting, contributing effectively to the victory of the struggle for national liberation and national reunification" - critic Hoang Dang Khoa shared.
