Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Kieu (middle), Vi Tan ward is now confident, in control of her life and helps many women have stable jobs.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Kieu, 43 years old, living in area 18, Vi Tan ward, is one of the women who went through a difficult time when her marriage broke down. She said that in 2007, she got married at the age of 25. Two years later, she and her husband went to Binh Duong to work as garment workers. At first, their family life was very peaceful. But they waited and waited but still did not have children. Her husband gradually became irritable, fell into alcoholism, and ran out of money. The slaps and scoldings from her husband when drunk made her unable to bear it any longer. In 2019, she and her husband ended their bitter marriage.

Returning home empty-handed, without children, and with public opinion, Ms. Kieu thought she would collapse. But after thinking it through, she decided not to let herself sink into despair. Having a sewing profession, Ms. Kieu took on garment manufacturing jobs to earn money to support her elderly parents and at the same time ease her sadness. Through her constant efforts and favorable work, Ms. Kieu gradually built a small sewing workshop right at home.

In 2021, Ms. Kieu boldly joined other women in Hamlet 6 (now Area 18, Vi Tan Ward) to establish the "Women's Industrial Sewing Group". She was elected as the group leader by the members. The sewing group opened up job opportunities for many women in difficult circumstances, helping them have a stable income of 4-5 million VND/month, depending on their skills. Ms. Kieu confided: "Now I have enough confidence because I can take care of myself, take care of my elderly parents; and at the same time, I can do what I always wanted, which is to create jobs for rural women." With Ms. Kieu's support, many local women have developed their skills and escaped poverty sustainably.

Luckier than Ms. Kieu, Ms. NTV, 52 years old, in Ninh Kieu ward, after the divorce has a daughter to accompany her, sharing the joys and sorrows in life. Talking to us in her small house, Ms. V smiled gently: "More than ten years of separation from my husband is the same amount of time my mother and I have lived in hardship. To have money to raise my children, I do not mind the hardships from working as a construction worker, sweeping the streets, babysitting, to helping with housework... as long as my children are satisfied and have a good education." Loving her mother, Ms. V's daughter always studies and practices diligently. Now, her daughter is an English teacher at a prestigious elementary school and has completed a master's program in pedagogy. On the day of attending the graduation ceremony with her child, Ms. V was emotional, her eyes filled with tears of happiness after months of hard work and hardship.

After her marriage broke down, Ms. HTT in Hoa Luu commune was at a dead end. With the wholehearted advice and encouragement of her relatives, Ms. T chose to learn cooking and open a small restaurant. In business, Ms. T always sets the criteria for the quality of the dishes, especially ensuring food hygiene and safety to create prestige. Therefore, her business is growing more and more.

A troubled marriage is a lingering pain for those involved. Overcoming the pain, many women after divorce have chosen to live a positive life, participating in local work, developing the family economy , doing many volunteer works... They find joy in working, creating and sharing with the community. Each story is a proof that, even though the "old boat" has missed its destination, many women seem to have more determination and courage, overcoming the pain to rebuild a new life based on financial independence, self-development, and raising children to become useful people for society.
