Next mission awaits U.23 Vietnam
Vietnam U23 completed a hat-trick of Southeast Asian championships by defeating Indonesia U23 with a score of 1-0. The results achieved at Gelora Bung Karno show that coach Kim Sang-sik has a promising generation of players, with enough potential to become the next generation of the Vietnam national team if developed in the right direction.
After winning the Southeast Asian championship, U.23 Vietnam will return home to rest and continue preparing for the new season with their home team.

By the second half of August, U.23 Vietnam will continue to gather to prepare for a new goal: to pass the 2026 AFC U.23 qualifiers. In Group C, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will face U.23 Singapore, U.23 Yemen and U.23 Bangladesh. U.23 Vietnam has home field advantage, as they will play all 3 qualifying matches at home in Viet Tri ( Phu Tho province).
In the 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers two years ago, Vietnam U23 won a ticket to the finals as group leader. The team, led by coach Philippe Troussier, defeated Yemen U23 (1-0) and Guam U23 (6-0), and drew Singapore U23 (2-2). All three matches were also played at Viet Tri Stadium. This is also a stadium with a connection to Vietnamese youth football, as the national team, U23, and U17 levels have all played here and had results ranging from draws to wins.
Vietnam U.23 aims to pass the 2026 AFC U.23 qualifiers (a task that has been completed continuously since the 2016 final round), thereby continuing to create the perfect psychological momentum for the 33rd SEA Games.
For coach Kim Sang-sik personally, tournaments with U.23 Vietnam are an opportunity to discover new factors and shape the playing style, to help the players if they are later "promoted" to the Vietnam national team.
