At 28, Scottie Scheffler has held the world No. 1 ranking for 100 consecutive weeks, following a stellar 2024 season that saw nine wins (including The Players, The Masters, the Olympics and the Tour Championship) in just 19 tournaments played.
His extraordinary consistency has helped him create a significant gap with the chasing pack in the OWGR rankings.
To date, only two people in history have held the world number one ranking for 100 consecutive weeks or more. They are Scottie Scheffler and Tiger Woods.
To be more precise, this is the third time a golfer has spent 100 consecutive weeks at the top of the OWGR, with Tiger Woods having done it twice. And Scottie still has a long way to go if he wants to approach this legend's "unbelievable" dominance streak.
Previously, Tiger Woods had a streak of 264 consecutive weeks as world number 1 from August 1999 to September 2004. And then he broke his own record with a streak of 281 weeks from June 2005 to August 2010.

If we count the most weeks at No. 1 in the world (not necessarily consecutive), Scheffler just surpassed Dustin Johnson - a golfer currently competing at LIV Golf - to rise to No. 3.
Leading the way is Tiger Woods with 683 weeks, followed by Greg Norman (331 weeks), Scottie Scheffler (136 weeks), Dustin Johnson (135 weeks) and Rory McIlroy (122 weeks).
Although he has yet to win in 2025, as Scheffler had a late start due to a hand injury at Christmas, his form has been solid.
In the eight tournaments he has played, Scheffler has only dropped out of the top 11 twice, and has finished in the top four three times (4th at Augusta, tied for third at Genesis, and runner-up at Houston). All of this he has done while "not playing his best golf."
McIlroy was unable to close the gap on Scheffler this week because the Zurich Classic of New Orleans — the only PGA Tour team event — does not count for OWGR points. Scheffler will have a chance to extend his lead on May 1, when he returns to action at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch.
