For the people forget themselves
On the morning of November 21, the 23/10 section at kilometer 5 was still almost waist-deep in water. Military forces, police, militia and volunteer rescue groups were urgently racing against time and floodwaters to rescue people trapped in the deeply flooded area. Using a boat to safely transport a 4-year-old baby from Phu Trung village to a high point on the 23/10 section, soldier Tran Thanh Phat (5th Special Forces Brigade) handed the baby over to his mother in an outpouring of happiness.

Receiving her child from the hands of soldier Tran Thanh Phat, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Lien (Phu Trung village, Tay Nha Trang ward) hugged her child, tears of emotion falling and her eyes still filled with worry about the remaining relatives in the flood center. "Currently, my family has 3 adults and 1 child rescued from the dangerous area. But there are still 3 adults who have not escaped, I don't know how. I pray that everyone will soon be rescued safely by the rescue force, everyone in the family will be safe through the flood!", Ms. Lien said, her voice suddenly choked.
After giving his child to the mother, soldier Tran Thanh Phat went to a sofa drifting by the roadside to rest for a while with two comrades, soldiers Nguyen Ngoc My and Nguyen Anh Tuan. These were first-year soldiers of the unit. They clearly demonstrated the bravery and spirit of special forces soldiers, overcoming all difficulties and challenges to ensure the safety of the people.

Asked about the bandaged wound on his thigh caused by an iron fence, soldier Nguyen Ngoc My shared: "This is just a small wound that I unfortunately got in the early morning while I and my teammates were rescuing 3 people in a family trapped in a house that was almost completely flooded." Soldier Nguyen Anh Tuan continued: "At that time, we rowed a boat through the alley, shouting "Rescue, rescue". Suddenly, we heard a cry for help coming from that house. We immediately jumped into the boat and dived inside. At this time, the house was flooded about 20cm from the ceiling, inside all 3 people were clinging to the ceiling, exhausted. We reassured them, put life jackets on them and took them to a safe place."

Here, boxes of porridge, loaves of bread, boxes of milk, bottles of water, pieces of cake... and dry clothes distributed by the authorities and volunteer groups have helped people gain more strength and spirit. Those who are sick or in poor health are quickly transferred to medical facilities for care. Mr. Nguyen Van Trung and his wife and children (Phu Thinh 2 Residential Group, Tay Nha Trang Ward) have not had anything to eat or drink for the past 2 days. Now, being given a box of hot porridge not only helps them gain more strength but also boosts their spirit to overcome the disaster. "When we arrived at this relief station, my family was given porridge and water. Perhaps this is the best box of porridge in my life," Mr. Trung shared. Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Lien (Tay Nha Trang Ward) and her parents and young children were given food, water and old, dry clothes to change into. This support and sharing is truly valuable in difficult times.
