How to deal with the land "blocking the way" of residential areas in the center of Can Tho City?

According to the leader of the Department of Construction of Can Tho City, the authorities are still measuring and redefining the boundaries and landmarks of the land of the "suspended" project for about 20 years now.

On November 4, speaking with reporters, a leader of the Can Tho City Department of Construction said that the unit really wants to quickly resolve the 1.3 hectare land area that is obstructing the connection of many routes in Area 1, An Khanh Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City.

The land is abandoned because the project is suspended right in the urban area, hindering the connection of many routes.

This is the land behind An Khanh High School, which in 2004, Can Tho City People's Committee assigned Hong Quang Construction Investment and Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company to build a residential area.

Due to many reasons such as financial difficulties, this project was "suspended" for decades, and in 2023, Can Tho City People's Committee decided to revoke it.

Because of this land, many roads in the resettlement area and Thoi Nhut residential area cannot connect with each other and are blocked. These are roads number 5, Chu Van An, Nguyen Minh Quang, Tran Van Long, roads number 12, 20…

Also due to the lack of clear roads to reduce traffic pressure, To Hien Thanh Street is constantly overloaded and congested during rush hours when students go to and from school. This area has three kindergartens, middle schools and high schools located close to each other…

It was revoked in 2023, but currently, according to Mr. Mai Nhu Toan, Director of the Department of Construction of Can Tho City, the authorities are still measuring and redefining the boundaries and landmarks of this land.

Due to some objective reasons, the measurement was delayed and the authorities are speeding up the progress to complete it this year.

"After completing this step, the City People's Committee will decide the "fate" of this land, such as auctioning it or handing it over to a new investor," said Mr. Toan.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Day (living in An Khanh ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) - representative of households whose land is affected by the above suspended project, said that a relative who has a private company has submitted a petition to receive this land.

According to the petition, the company will build infrastructure, divide plots, connect roads and hand over some plots to the city according to regulations.

To Hien Thanh Street is often congested due to the lack of routes to ease the pressure.

According to him, because this person also has land affected by the project and nearly 20 households with land in this area are all relatives, it will be easy to negotiate to get clean land...

After receiving the application, the Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to consider.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Toan said that after completing the recall procedures, the capacity of this unit will be considered and evaluated.
