Coach Kim Pan Gon has just been fired by Ulsan HD after a series of poor results this season. In the last 10 matches in all competitions, the team nicknamed “The Tigers” has not won any, including 7 losses.
That caused Ulsan HD to be pushed down to 7th place in the K-League rankings. In order to save the situation, the club's management invited coach Shin Tae Yong to help the team return to the top.
Yonhap news agency said Shin Tae Yong will become the highest paid coach in Korean football history when he accepts to lead Ulsan HD.
The newspaper wrote: “The club has offered coach Shin Tae Yong the highest salary in the Korean league. The two sides are said to have reached an agreement, although the contract has not yet been officially signed.”
Chosun also confirmed similar information, emphasizing that Shin Tae Yong's proposed salary will break all records in the K-League. "This is the highest salary in the history of the tournament," Chosun affirmed.
Coach Shin Tae Yong had successfully led the Indonesian team to the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. In the context that Garuda (the nickname of the Indonesian team) was on the right track, he was suddenly fired to give his position to coach Patrick Kluivert. Since then, coach Shin Tae Yong has not accepted a coaching position with this team.
