Attending the conference were leaders of the Irrigation Department, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, People's Committee of Si Ma Cai district; leaders of specialized departments at district level, communes and towns, along with a large number of cadres, party members and people.
Launching the National Week for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation in 2024, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Si Ma Cai district, requested that sectors and localities actively promote and widely disseminate good and creative practices and typical factors in rural environmental sanitation and water resource protection.
Through communication campaigns to raise awareness and change community behavior on clean water use, environmental sanitation, personal hygiene to improve health and prevent and fight epidemics; organize campaigns to repair water supply works, clean up households and public areas; build civilized lifestyles, cultural families with the movement "All people build new rural areas"...
Sectors and localities need to promote public awareness about participating in protecting water resources and water supply works; create habits of using water safely and economically and commit to protecting water resources and maintaining environmental hygiene.
The launching ceremony is in response to the National Week of Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation; towards the 52nd anniversary of World Environment Day (June 5, 1972 - June 5, 2024) and creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere to effectively implement Decision 1333/QD-TTg dated November 10, 2023 of the Prime Minister on supplementing capital from the 2023 central budget reserve for Lao Cai province to build 5 clusters of clean water supply works for communes and towns in Si Ma Cai district.
The District People's Committee directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with the People's Committees of communes, towns, and the Center for Culture, Sports and Communication to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to actively participate in activities responding to the National Week of Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation in 2024 with the theme "Ensuring safe clean water supply to adapt to climate change"; organize practical activities to protect clean water supply works in the district.
