In the context of superhero works in recent times not achieving great success, the expectation for the brand new superhero “Blue Beetle” is not too high. The film’s production team is also new names compared to the familiar team of other DC works. However, this seemingly “modest” foundation helps “Blue Beetle” shine much brighter than expected.

Comparing Blue Beetle to other superhero movies, IGN Movies writer Alyssa Mora said: “The fast-paced, funny, and heartfelt nature of Blue Beetle makes it stand out from the crowd of superhero movies out there.”

Meanwhile, David Rooney of the Hollywood Reporter commented: "The director and screenwriter don't exactly break the mold, but they bring to the genre a respectable favor and retro elements that have seemed to disappear in recent years. That makes Blue Beetle a breath of fresh air at the moment."

Right from the release of the first trailers, Blue Beetle made the audience extremely excited with the transformation and weapon creation segments of the superhero trainee, making the audience somewhat think of other famous works such as Kamen Rider Gatack... The film's cast, especially Xolo Mariduena, received critical acclaim. Blue Beetle is also notable for its uniquely Mexican identity, which is subtly portrayed in the film. Gonzalez of The Cinematic Reel commented, “As a Latino, I was amazed at how elegantly the spirit of Mexican families is portrayed on screen.” Machado of Entertainment Weekly added, “It’s a rare opportunity to celebrate a special part of the Latin community, and that makes Jaime’s superhero journey all the more poignant.”
