According to the Guardian , a watchdog investigation into the charity Fashion for Relief (which closed in March 2024) found that much of the money raised at star-studded events over the past decade had been misused. The newspaper reported on September 26 that Naomi Campbell, 54, had been banned from charity work for five years.

It is believed that tens of thousands of dollars were spent by the supermodel on lavish hotel stays, spa services, personal security, cigarettes and more.
The investigation also claimed that Naomi Campbell's trustee Bianka Hellmich received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the charity in unauthorized payments.
Hellmich was banned from holding charitable trusteeship for nine years, while another trustee, Veronica Chou, was banned for four years.
The report also accused the charity of being "poorly managed" and "inadequate financial management".
From April 2016 to July 2022, only 8.5% of the organization's total spending went to charities.
The Daily Mail reported that $5,000 was raised by Fashion for Relief at a gala in Cannes, France. The organization has raised $1.6 million over 15 months.
Naomi Campbell's representative has not yet responded to Page Six 's request for comment.
Fashion For Relief's income and expenditure were reported to regulators in 2021. The Charity Commission for England and Wales launched an investigation in November 2021.
Naomi Campbell founded the charity Fashion For Relief in 2005.
The charity Fashion For Relief announced its dissolution in December 2023 and closed three months later. A financial investigation recovered nearly $400,000, which was donated to Save the Children and the London Mayor's Fund.
Naomi Campbell founded the charity in 2005, launching her We Love Brazil foundation that year.
"Nelson Mandela inspired me to set up Fashion For Relief to improve the lives of those in need by uniting the fashion industry as a force for good. We provide relief to victims of disasters such as the Haiti earthquake, Hurricane Katrina, the Japanese earthquake and subsequent tsunami," supermodel Naomi Campbell wrote on the charity's website.
