Speaking to the press in his hometown, Sinner said he wanted to trade his personal ATP title for the chance to see Italy play in the World Cup: "I really want to make this exchange, for the simple reason that there are so many young people and children who have never seen Italy participate in the World Cup."

Even I felt the same way, because I was too young to follow football back then. Now we have time to change some things. Let's wait and see what the future holds; there's nothing we can change now."
Following their defeat to Bosnia on April 1st, the Italian national team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. This marks the third consecutive time the Azzurri have missed out on the biggest football tournament on the planet, despite having won four World Cups.
The tennis player born in 2001 just had a triumphant March, winning both the Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Open in the US. The Italian star will begin his quest for the Monte Carlo Masters in Monaco with a second-round match against Ugo Humbert on April 7th.
Ahead of the ATP Masters 1000 clay court tournament in Monaco, Jannik Sinner shared: "I like playing on clay, but it's not my favorite surface. I believe I can play well here."
I've never won an ATP Masters 1000 tournament on clay, even though I've reached the finals many times. I can't predict the future, but it would be great to win here. This is a tournament I love and I'm happy to be a part of it.”
