Specifically: Vietnam has 13,700 newly established enterprises with a registered capital of nearly VND 126,900 billion and a registered number of nearly 79,000 employees, a decrease of 1.2% in the number of enterprises, 8.6% in registered capital and 24% in the number of employees compared to June 2023. In addition, more than 7,000 enterprises returned to operation, a decrease of 1% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 3.5% compared to the same period in 2022.
In the first 7 months of 2023, Vietnam had 89,600 newly registered enterprises, with a total registered capital of VND 834,300 billion and a total registered number of 588,900 employees, an increase of 0.2% in the number of enterprises, a decrease of 17.1% in registered capital and a decrease of 5.2% in the number of employees compared to the same period last year.
The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the first 7 months of 2023 reached VND 9.3 billion, down 17.3% over the same period in 2022. If including VND 1,117,900 billion of additional registered capital of 28,900 enterprises increasing capital, the total registered capital added to the economy in the first 7 months of 2023 was VND 1,952,200 billion, down 41.5% over the same period last year.
By economic sector, in the first 7 months of this year, there were 945 newly established enterprises in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector, down 23.7% over the same period last year; 21,300 enterprises in the industry and construction sector, down 5%; 67,300 enterprises in the service sector, up 2.5%.
Based on the aggregated data on business registration in the first 7 months of this year, the Department of Business Registration Management ( Ministry of Planning and Investment ) also noted the difficulties of businesses in the real estate business sector.
“This is the sector that is most pressured and affected when the number of enterprises established and the registered capital of enterprises established in this sector both decreased sharply compared to the same period last year (down 56.2% and 51.5% respectively),” the report of the Department of Business Registration Management emphasized. At the same time, the number of real estate businesses withdrawing from the market tends to increase (up 37.9% compared to the same period in 2022, the highest increase among 17 sectors).
Although the number decreased by 1.4% compared to the same period in 2022, in absolute terms, this is also the highest number of enterprises joining and re-joining ever compared to the same period.
