Pursuant to the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army in 1999 (amended in 2008), military officers are cadres of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, operating in the military field, and are awarded the ranks of lieutenant, colonel, and general by the State. Military uniforms, ranks, badges, and officer certificates are prescribed by the Government.
In Article 8 of the 1999 Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army, officers are divided into the following two ranks:
The active duty officer rank is the rank that includes officers of the regular force who are working in the army or are on secondment.
Reserve officer rank is the rank of officers in the reserve force who are registered, managed, and trained to be ready to be mobilized into active service.
From July 1, 2024, the new basic salary is 2.34 million VND/month instead of 1.8 million VND/month.
Currently, salaries of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and armed forces are calculated by multiplying the base salary by the salary coefficient.
Accordingly, the salary of military officers from July 1 will still be implemented according to current regulations with the following formula:
Military officer salary is equal to military officer salary coefficient multiplied by basic salary.
In which, the basic salary from July 1, 2024 is 2.34 million VND/month; the salary coefficient of military officers depends on military rank.
Accordingly, the highest military rank is General with a salary coefficient of 10.4; the lowest military rank is Second Lieutenant with a salary coefficient of 4.2.
Below is this subject's salary table before and after today (July 1, 2024):
In addition, currently, in addition to receiving salary according to coefficient, military officers also receive other allowances, such as: Seniority, position allowance...
With this regulation, the types of allowances have not changed.
