Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just signed the Prime Minister's Directive on strengthening coordination between schools, families and society in preventing school violence.
The above directive was issued by the Government leader in the context of school violence, social evils and law violations among students still being complicated. Forms of school violence are increasingly diverse, illegal drug use and law violations tend to increase and become younger.
The above situation has negative impacts on the physical, mental, moral and lifestyle of the young generation, affecting theeducational environment and causing anxiety among the people.

In order to overcome the above limitations and shortcomings, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Education and Training to continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly direct the implementation of regulations, tasks and solutions on coordination between families, schools and society. "It is necessary to ensure a safe, healthy and friendly educational environment, prevent and combat school violence; prevent crimes and violations of the law; educate on ethics, lifestyle; behavioral culture, and life skills among students," the Directive stated. At the same time, the Ministry of Education and Training is also required to promptly amend, supplement or issue new relevant regulations.
The Government requested the Ministry of Education and Training to coordinate with the Ministries of Public Security, Health, Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Information and Communications, Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Central Youth Union to promote communication, dissemination, and replication of effective models in ethics education, lifestyle, behavioral culture, and life skills for students.
The Ministry of Education and Training should focus on implementing psychological counseling and school social work activities. Develop documents and implement educational activities to prevent crime and social evils appropriate to all levels of education.
Further promote the training of teachers and educational managers, focusing on innovating the content and methods of teaching life skills, skills in dealing with social networks related to school violence, and safety education for children, pupils and students.
The Ministry of Education and Training also needs to enhance skills in handling situations related to the emergence of school violence; and increase the responsibility of school leaders in ensuring school safety.
The Government also requires all levels and educational institutions to promptly receive information, coordinate processing and statistics, and report on violations of the law and social evils, and acts of school violence related to children, pupils, and students.
In addition, in the Directive, the Prime Minister also requested the Ministry of Public Security to direct local police to strengthen solutions to ensure security, safety and social order in school areas. Implement well the regime of exchanging information on security, order and safety of schools with the authorities and educational institutions.
The Prime Minister assigned the responsibility to relevant ministries and sectors to come up with solutions to prevent and combat school violence, crimes, and social evils against children, pupils, and students. In particular, the work of controlling and screening social networking sites with violent content among pupils and students should be stepped up to avoid negative impacts.
Previously, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son informed that from September 1, 2021 to November 5, 2023, there were 699 school violence cases nationwide involving 2,016 students, of which 854 were female students. On average, there is 1 school violence case in every 50 schools. Of which, the number of gang violence cases and the number of female students participating in school violence are increasing.
