The 2024-2025 school year is determined to be a school year marking a special milestone: completing the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program according to the roadmap of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) from grades 1 to 12; also the first year to organize the high school graduation exam according to the new general education program.
Before entering the new school year 2024 - 2025, the Education sector of Soc Trang province has prepared conditions to ensure the new school year such as reviewing and arranging the network of schools, investing in facilities, reviewing staffing, training and improving the capacity of teachers and education managers, orienting the key tasks and solutions that need to be implemented during the school year.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Soc Trang province has 475 schools (458 public schools, 17 non-public schools). Of which, there are 40 high schools (39 public schools, 1 non-public school); 108 middle schools (106 public schools, 2 non-public schools); 197 primary schools (195 public schools, 2 non-public schools); 130 preschool - kindergarten schools (118 public schools, 12 non-public schools). Compared to the 2023-2024 school year, this school year has 4 fewer schools.
The province has also allocated budget to ensure educational activities and effectively implemented policies for ethnic minority students, tuition exemption and reduction policies, and support for study costs for students under the policy; allocated budget to purchase facilities and teaching equipment to ensure implementation of the 2018 general education program.
According to Chau Tuan Hong, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Soc Trang province, in the 2024-2025 school year, the provincial education sector has 17,452 managers, teachers and staff. Currently, 100% of the sector's managers have met the standard qualifications, of which 36.5% are above the standard. 92.69% of teachers meet the standards according to the 2019 Education Law.
To prepare for the new school year, the Department took advantage of the summer to organize training courses to improve professional capacity and political theory for managers and teachers.
In particular, the Department of Education and Training coordinates with the Departments and Bureaus of the Ministry of Education and Training so that managers and teachers can directly access experts to grasp how to implement the 2018 general education program; coordinates with publishers so that managers and teachers can be guided in exploiting and using textbooks from the editors of different sets of books; coordinates with institutes and universities so that managers and teachers can improve their professional capacity from experienced lecturers and experts.
