On May 31, thousands of residents and tourists flocked to the southern part of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China) to watch the dragon boat races. This is a unique and interesting traditional festival, and also a cultural beauty, a spiritual food of the people of "the Fragrant Harbor."

To the rhythmic beat of drums, the rowers coordinated their movements, steering the dragon boats through the waves and rushing towards the finish line amid enthusiastic cheers from the audience. In Hong Kong, a standard dragon boat can carry 20 rowers.

This Dragon Boat Racing Festival is one of the bustling entertainment activities held on the occasion of the Duanwu Festival (on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month). This is a long-standing traditional festival of the Chinese people, associated with the legend of commemorating an ancient loyal minister.

During this year's Duanwu Festival, dragon boat racing festivals are held not only in Hong Kong but also in many localities of mainland China and Taiwan (China), as well as in countries with large Chinese communities such as Singapore and Malaysia.

This is also considered a good opportunity for Chinese localities to attract more tourists to the city. To meet the increased travel demand during this time, the Chinese railway industry is increasing its transport capacity, improving services at stations and organizing many cultural activities to improve the passenger experience./.
