Exciting spring tree planting campaign

– In the joyful and exciting atmosphere of celebrating the Party, celebrating spring, celebrating the country's renewal, right in the first days of the spring of Giap Thin 2024, all levels, sectors, functions and people in the province have actively launched the spring tree planting campaign. Thereby, creating a competitive atmosphere in labor production, contributing to the successful implementation of the province's socio -economic development goals and tasks in 2024.

On the morning of February 15 (January 6), the People's Committee of Binh Gia District organized a launching ceremony for the movement "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" in the Spring of Giap Thin at the People's Committee of Hoang Hoa Tham Commune. Along with the above launching point, communes and towns in the district also simultaneously launched tree planting in early spring.

Ms. Hoang Thi Anh, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Gia District, said: Fully aware of the significance of planting trees and afforestation, many people in the district have participated in spring tree planting activities since the 6th day of the Lunar New Year, creating a bustling atmosphere in production right after the Lunar New Year holiday. Up to now, the whole district has planted over 3,000 new trees of various types such as anise, peach, etc. In 2024, the whole district plans to plant 900 hectares of new forests. To ensure progress, at this time, taking advantage of favorable weather, farmers are continuing to step up preparations.

In Loc Binh district, the movement "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" on the occasion of the Spring of Giap Thin 2024 also took place enthusiastically. Mr. Nguyen Huu Thinh, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Loc Binh district said: On the morning of the 6th day of Tet, communes and towns in the district organized the movement "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" attracting thousands of participants and planting 21,684 trees of various types such as: dracontomelon, lat, pine, acacia... In 2024, the whole district plans to plant 1,200 hectares of forest, this activity contributes to creating a vibrant atmosphere, strengthening the determination to complete the task of forestry development in the district.

Not only the two districts mentioned above, implementing Plan No. 25 dated January 25, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on organizing "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" and launching the construction of rural roads, irrigation, domestic water, environmental sanitation on the occasion of the Spring of Giap Thin 2024, the People's Committees of districts and cities have developed plans to organize Tet tree planting to ensure efficiency, economy, and suitability to the conditions of each locality; propagating and creating a widespread tree planting and forest planting movement for agencies, organizations, unions, schools, armed forces and people to participate.

Accordingly, on February 15 (January 6), 11/11 districts and cities simultaneously organized a spring tree planting campaign. According to preliminary statistics from the Provincial Forest Protection Department, the launch attracted more than 12,300 cadres, party members and people to participate at 210 launch points, planting 78,907 new trees of all kinds (equivalent to 71.4 hectares). After the launch ceremony, the People's Committees of communes and towns continued to guide people to proactively plant forests according to the set plan.

Mr. Hua Van Dung, Diem He commune, Van Quan district said: With the propaganda of the Party Committee, the commune government and the awareness of the role of planting trees and afforestation, every spring, my family sends people to participate in the movement "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" launched by the commune. Through this activity, not only do I demonstrate the good traditions of the nation, but I also learn from the experience of planting persimmon and anise trees from the experts and people in the district.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung, Head of the Provincial Forest Protection Department, said: To ensure the launching ceremony of "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" is highly effective, from the beginning of 2024, the Department has directed the Forest Protection Departments of districts and cities to effectively manage forestry seedlings, report on seedling sources to ensure service for Tet tree planting in the Spring of Giap Thin. Thereby, the Tet tree planting movement is ensured to be effectively implemented, attracting a large number of cadres, party members and people in the province to participate. This is also an opportunity for cadres and people to share experiences in planting and caring for forests, creating a competitive atmosphere to successfully complete the targets and tasks of forestry development, contributing to the successful implementation of the Program of planting one billion green trees under the direction of the Prime Minister .

Immediately after the launching ceremony, the People's Committees of communes and towns continued to propagate and guide local people to prepare well the conditions for planting trees and forests in the spring and the following period. With the proactiveness and positivity of the government and people, we believe that the targets and tasks in afforestation and forestry development in the province will be implemented according to the set plan.

In 2023, the province will plant 9,500 hectares of new forest, with an estimated forest coverage rate of 64.2%. In 2024, the province will strive to plant 9,000 hectares of new forest, requiring over 20 million seedlings. Currently, there are about 788 forestry nursery gardens in the province. At this time, the nurseries have proactively sown enough forestry seedlings to serve the 2024 forest planting season.
