Quickly turn Ngoc Linh ginseng into a key crop, leading other economic sectors

The resolution aims to soon turn Ngoc Linh ginseng into a key crop, leading many other economic sectors, contributing to socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas of the province and reaching the world.

Specifically, by 2030, developing the production and supply area of ​​Ngoc Linh ginseng in Nam Tra My district and other transplanted areas in the province with a total area of ​​8,400 hectares to provide raw materials for the Medicinal Materials Industry Center and serve processing and consumption in and outside the province.

Each year, about 300 - 350 hectares are exploited, with a total output of about 100 tons of ginseng roots 5 years old or older/year. At the same time, in situ conservation areas and gardens for collecting Ngoc Linh ginseng gene sources are built in these typical ecological regions.

On the other hand, upgrading 2 areas to preserve Ngoc Linh ginseng seed sources at Tra Linh Medicinal Plant Station and Tak-Ngo Ginseng Farm with a production scale of 300 - 500 thousand seedlings/year to produce and supply seedlings that ensure quantity and meet standards according to regulations.

Establish 30 - 50 large-scale Ngoc Linh ginseng gardens for households and businesses; produce 5 - 10 million 1-year-old Ngoc Linh ginseng seedlings each year (including seedlings produced by 2 conservation units). Organize production according to GACP-WHO standards (about 15 - 30% of production area is certified GACP-WHO)...

To achieve the above goal, the resolution sets out many important solutions, such as focusing on managing, preserving and developing Ngoc Linh ginseng as a key crop on the basis of promoting the advantages of natural conditions, economy and society of the province; building a system of appropriate and synchronous mechanisms and policies; diversifying products, gradually turning Ngoc Linh ginseng into a commodity with high economic value, meeting the needs of domestic and foreign markets, associated with protecting the Vietnamese ginseng brand...
