Somalia kills dozens of Al-Shabab militants

Somali officials confirmed that 40 Al-Shabab militants were killed by the elite Danab force of the Somali National Army (SNA) in a joint operation with regional and international forces in the southern lower Juba region of the African nation.

The United States has been providing continuous support to the Somali government since President Joe Biden approved a Pentagon request to redeploy 500 U.S. troops to the region in 2022 in an effort to combat the terrorist group, AP reported. The latest military operation against Al-Shabab comes a day after Somalia’s defense minister bid farewell to thousands of troops who have completed training and are ready to join the campaign against the jihadist group.
