Son Heung Min Icon
Harry Kane is Tottenham's greatest ever scorer - 280 goals, but if we had to choose a name that carries the spirit and mark of a 21st century icon, that person could only be Son Heung Min .
A decade of commitment, with 454 matches, 173 goals and especially the Europa League trophy in the 2024/25 season - Tottenham's first European title in 41 years - all have put Son Heung Min's name in the golden history of the North London team.

At the age of 33, Son Heung Min announced that he will leave Spurs this summer, just before the team enters the new season under the leadership of new coach Thomas Frank.
Speaking at a press conference in Seoul – his hometown – Son could not hide his emotions as he said goodbye.
“This was the hardest decision of my career. I needed a new environment to challenge myself. Ten years is a long time, and I wanted a change.”
Son Heung Min joined Tottenham in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen at the age of 23, in a risky move by Spurs.
The Korean was once doubted about his ability to adapt to English football due to language barriers and cultural differences, but then gradually conquered everyone – from coaches, teammates to fans.
Not only is he one of the best Asian players to ever play in the Premier League, but he has also become a symbol of dedication, humility and devotion.
“ I came to North London as a kid. A boy who couldn’t speak English , ” Son recalled; he added: “ I left the club as a grown man.”
If Kane represents strength and efficiency, Son is the epitome of inspiration and heart.

It was he – not Kane – who wore the captain's armband in the historic 2024/25 season, leading Tottenham to the top of the Europa League after a dramatic victory over MU at San Mames (Bilbao).
With Son as leader, Tottenham not only won titles but also found character – something that had been doubted for many years.
Maybe, that is also the reason Son Heung Min chose to leave at the most glorious moment.
Son's Legacy
“That trophy made me feel like I had achieved everything I could. I wondered if I still had the motivation to continue here, or if I should find a new journey. And I got the answer,” Son said in Korean.
Son Heung Min's departure not only marks the end of a 10-year era, but also opens a new, promising chapter.
Coach Thomas Frank – who replaced Ange Postecoglou – admitted he regretted not having the opportunity to work with Son long-term, but also affirmed that this was the right time for Spurs to continue writing the future.
With the Europa League title to change the mentality of the whole team, a new coach with a modern football philosophy, a series of young talents ready to explode, and quality new recruits who have arrived and will arrive, Tottenham enters the 2025/26 season with a different mindset.
The legacy that Son Heung Min left behind is not only goals or titles, but also the image of a player who always puts the team first, fights tirelessly and inspires the next generation.

Today (6pm, August 3), in the friendly match against Newcastle in Seoul, Son Heung will wear the captain's armband for the last time, playing in his hometown.
A pre-season friendly, but possibly the best farewell any player could wish for, alongside his home fans (Tottenham are the most supported Premier League club in South Korea).
There will be tears from the stands when meeting their idol, along with gratitude for Son Heung Min.
From London to Seoul, Spurs fans paid their respects and thanks to the 33-year-old star. Thank you for everything, icon Son Heung Min!
