Honoring outstanding journalists
With the guiding red thread throughout “The press is the vanguard force on the ideological and cultural front”, the team of journalists has truly become “revolutionary soldiers” as President Ho Chi Minh advised. The dedication, even the sacrifice of the lives of generations of senior journalists for the revolutionary ideal, for the mission of the profession has become a glorious tradition, a bright mark, a shining example for generations of Vietnamese revolutionary journalists to learn and follow.

We had the opportunity to meet journalist Ha Dang - former Head of the Central Ideology and Culture Department, former Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper. He is a symbol of a "fighting pen" that has persisted for more than half a century. He always had the concerns, thoughts and aspirations of an intellectual - soldier, journalist - political activist throughout his life devoted to the revolution.
With Prof. Dr. Journalist Ta Ngoc Tan, there are many articles, scientific theories, profound about Vietnamese revolutionary press. Or with journalist Le Thanh Tuan, currently Director of Vinh Long Newspaper and Radio - Television Station, concerned with the economy of journalism, he has succeeded in arousing the spirit of innovation and creativity with branded programs. Thereby, bringing revenue to always be in the top of the press nationwide.
As a "weak" woman, reporter Nguyen Ngan - News Department, Vietnam Television has made a strong impression on audiences nationwide with many series of investigative reports on social issues. Despite facing many difficulties, challenges, and even dangers in the process of implementing the topic, reporter Nguyen Ngan affirmed that she will continue to pursue investigative reports. Because there are still many topics from real life waiting for reporters to delve into and reflect the hidden corners...
It is impossible to list all the contributions and dedications of the outstanding journalists honored on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press. Because the recognition and praise from the public is the most important measure, the greatest honor and pride for each outstanding journalist and journalist today.
Convey, convey trust
Meeting with the exemplary team of journalists in a warm and friendly atmosphere at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong emotionally shared: “Our country is entering a new era, with a burning desire to develop the country into a rich, prosperous and happy country. That is the eternal dream of our ancestors, of our nation, and from now on that responsibility is placed on all of us; in which, with its mission and role, the press must always be a sober and trustworthy companion, must be the vanguard and pioneer in that great cause…”.
President Luong Cuong kindly entrusted and passed on the mission and role of journalists in the new era. Firstly, throughout his life of serving the Fatherland, serving the people and during more than 50 years of writing for newspapers, Uncle Ho drew an extremely profound lesson: “Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers. Pens and paper are their sharp weapons”. The achievements of our country’s revolutionary press, our outstanding and typical journalists over the past 100 years all originated from thoroughly understanding, studying and following this advice of Uncle Ho. That is the most fundamental lesson about the role, qualities and ethics that Vietnamese journalists today and tomorrow need to learn, practice and strive to follow.
Second, as revolutionary soldiers - as Uncle Ho advised, Vietnamese journalists need to maintain political courage, professional ethics, heart, vision, and talent; maintain the flame of passion for the profession, be loyal to the Party's revolutionary ideals, to the cause and aspirations of the nation, and be closely attached to the people. This is the highest requirement and also the President's wish for journalists and revolutionary journalists.
In order to create truly valuable journalistic works, discover and reflect truthfully and promptly the truth of life, directly participate in the cause of innovation, contribute to realizing the aspiration to develop a rich, prosperous and happy country; requires the press, journalists and journalists to innovate themselves, strive to reflect truthfully, vividly and persuasively the new developments, the good, the noble, the kindness in life. At the same time, courageously and strictly condemn and criticize the evil, the base, the degeneration, the corruption, waste, negativity, bad habits, vices, social evils, resolutely fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints, protect the Party's ideological foundation, consolidate and strengthen the people's trust. Thereby, actively contribute to the victory of the cause of building people, innovating and developing the country in the new era. That is the special fighting power of the press and of journalists and journalists in the new era as Uncle Ho taught: "Your pens are also sharp weapons in the cause of supporting justice and eliminating evil."
Third, our press is developing in a new context, in which science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation have become strategic pillars to bring our country into an era of breakthrough development. It requires our press to grasp that inevitable development trend, resolutely and urgently innovate comprehensively, synchronously, and in accordance with the specific laws of the press to create press products that breathe the breath of the times, have creativity, and explore new content and expression methods. Proactively grasp modern media trends, gradually create a new model of press in the digital transformation period, the stormy development of science, technology, etc. That is a great cause, with many challenges, but the entire press industry of our country must do it because that is the inevitable path that modern press must reach.
With the efforts of the entire press industry, the leadership, direction and management of the Party and the State, President Luong Cuong hopes and believes that veteran journalists, journalists and exemplary journalists, with their talent, experience, life experience and professional experience, will continue to contribute to the cause of revolutionary journalism, and be a spiritual support, imparting experience and creative inspiration to the generations of journalists today and tomorrow, helping them to continue, maintain the precious tradition and bring the Vietnamese revolutionary press to new heights, meeting the expectations and trust of the Party, State and people for our noble journalism cause.
“Central and local agencies, according to their functions and tasks, need to proactively coordinate to research, propose, and perfect mechanisms and policies, creating conditions for journalists and journalists to be able to make a living from their profession, love their profession, and feel secure in their commitment to their profession. At the same time, continue to pay attention to training, fostering, promoting, and honoring dedicated journalists and young journalists, in order to build a team of dedicated journalists who are passionate about their profession, truly “revolutionary soldiers on the ideological and cultural front” as advised by beloved Uncle Ho.” (President Luong Cuong) |
