In the memories of many generations of reporters at the Vietnam News Agency Information Center in the Central Highlands region, the time spent at the scene, closely following each event to reflect truthful information to readers are unforgettable experiences.

For journalist Tran Xuan Quang, each photo taken is a source of pride and responsibility for revolutionary journalism, contributing to the ever-flowing news of VNA.

Steady hand with gun, steady hand with machine

Journalist Tran Xuan Quang (formerly a photojournalist of the Propaganda Department, Zone 5 Party Committee) always cherished every moment on the battlefield during the most fierce time of the war. Because every time he pressed the shutter, he had to pay with the lives and blood of his comrades.

During his career as a war correspondent, journalist Tran Xuan Quang still clearly remembers the day our army entered to liberate Da Nang city (March 29, 1975).

"With a steady hand on the gun and a steady hand on the camera," he promptly captured historical moments with his lens. Notable images include the American soldiers dropping their guns and raising their hands in surrender; the puppet soldiers leaving Son Tra station, walking in a long line under escort; and the streets of Da Nang in the moments after liberation...

Journalist Tran Xuan Quang recalls that at that time, each photo was not only a valuable document but also a vivid proof of the sacrifice, victory and aspiration for peace and national unification of our nation. Being able to contribute his part to the flow of information of the country in that historic moment was a source of happiness and pride for him.

On the morning the liberation army entered Da Nang, journalist Xuan Quang captured the moment when groups of people rushed out from the alleys, their faces radiant, waving flags and flowers. After years of being confined in strategic hamlets, they seemed to have a new breath of life, joyfully welcoming the day of liberation.

After the liberation day, the Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People's Army at that time, General Vo Nguyen Giap, visited Da Nang and journalist Tran Xuan Quang had the honor to meet and take pictures. This moment is an unforgettable memory in his journalistic career.

Each photo is a true information

After the country's reunification, journalist Tran Xuan Quang moved to work for VNA in 1985. With the same spirit, he did not mind the difficulties and hardships, continuing to look for "golden moments" in all provinces of the Central Highlands region.

According to journalist Tran Xuan Quang, he considers each news report and photo broadcast as a source contributing to the country's information flow.

Through forests and streams, VNA’s news must still ensure accuracy, timeliness and objectivity. Because VNA’s information is the official source of information for many newspapers and radio stations. There are business trips that last for weeks with difficult working conditions; however, as long as he can send the “hot” news to headquarters in time, all his fatigue will be gone.

A profound memory for journalist Tran Xuan Quang is the moment when the Vietnamese Ministry of Energy (now the Ministry of Industry and Trade ) inaugurated the 500kV line circuit 1 in 1994, connecting the national power system and supplying electricity for the first time to the Central Highlands region, including the Da Nang and Pleiku transformer stations (Gia Lai province).

To take a photo at that time, the journalist had to continuously choose the angle, develop the film and send it to Hanoi. The photos of the “project of the century” were taken, marking the first time an ultra-high voltage transmission line was put into operation, creating an important turning point in the history of Vietnam’s electricity industry.

For journalist Tran Xuan Quang, choosing the right “decisive moment” to most truthfully reflect the events is the most important factor. VNA photos must be absolutely honest and cannot be staged. That is the professional discipline he always reminds himself because “a picture is worth more than a thousand words.”

From historic moments on the battlefield to important events after the day of peace, each photo, each news article truly reflects the fighting spirit, the desire for peace and the development of the country.

Inheriting that heroic tradition, the young generation of reporters of the VNA Information Center in the Central Highlands region continues to promote the spirit of perseverance to bring authentic information to domestic and international readers.

In the context of increasingly developing modern information, young reporters are constantly innovating and applying new technology to their work so that each news, article and image of VNA is not only an official source of information, but also a breakthrough product, contributing to enhancing the value and reputation of the national news agency./.
