Celebrating the 68th anniversary of the first daily publication of Hanoi Moi Newspaper (October 24, 1957 - October 24, 2025)

During 68 years of construction and development, Hanoi Moi Newspaper has always affirmed its worthy position as the mouthpiece of the Party Committee, government and people of the Capital - a newspaper with strong identity, steadfast political stance, a sharp ideological tool in propaganda, orienting public opinion, making an important contribution to the cause of building and developing Hanoi and the country.

Proud of our long tradition

As a local Party newspaper, Hanoi Moi has the stature of a press agency with national influence, standing firm on the political , ideological and cultural front. With a team of many generations of dedicated and courageous journalists, throughout its 68-year journey, Hanoi Moi Newspaper has always closely followed the leadership of the Central Committee and the Hanoi Party Committee, implementing systematic, profound and clearly effective propaganda work. The newspaper has truly been a bridge between the Party's will and the people's hearts, promptly conveying the Party's policies and resolutions, and the State's policies to each cadre, party member and people; at the same time vividly reflecting the breath of life, the people's thoughts and aspirations to the City's leaders.

The newspaper was honored to be named twice by President Ho Chi Minh. The first time, on January 1, 1959, the two newspaper agencies of the Capital and Hanoi merged, and were named by President Ho Chi Minh as the Capital Hanoi Newspaper. The second time, on January 25, 1968, the Capital Hanoi Newspaper merged with the New Times Newspaper, and were named by President Ho Chi Minh as the New Hanoi Newspaper. That name has been associated with the newspaper ever since.

On August 1, 2008, implementing Resolution No. 15/2008/QH12 of the 12th National Assembly "On adjusting the administrative boundaries of Hanoi city", Hanoi Moi Newspaper and Ha Tay Newspaper merged into the "common house" Hanoi Moi Newspaper, further creating strength for the capital's newspaper.

As the agency of the Hanoi Party Committee, the voice of the Party Committee, the government and the people of the Capital, over the past 68 years, Hanoi Moi Newspaper has maintained its principles and purposes; closely followed reality, actively propagated the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws as well as those of the Party Committee and the government of the Capital; encouraged and cheered the entire people in the past struggles for independence and freedom, and in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland today. The Newspaper's publications have constantly innovated in content and form, increased the amount of information on Party building, the political system, foreign affairs, and the fight against wrong views, making an important contribution to protecting the Party's ideological foundation and consolidating people's trust.

Not only is it a newspaper for cadres and party members, Hanoi Moi is also a close friend of all classes of people, always deeply reflecting social life, stirring up patriotic emulation movements, spreading the good values ​​of elegant and civilized Hanoi people. In particular, the daily presentation of Hanoi Moi Newspaper to party members who are awarded the 50-year Party membership badge or more according to Decision 1487-QD/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee is a vivid demonstration of the connection between the Newspaper and the readers of the Capital - a connection full of responsibility and affection.

According to journalist Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, in the 100-year history of Vietnam's revolutionary press, Hanoi Moi has always been one of the Party's newspapers with large scale and influence, making positive contributions to the overall development of Vietnam's revolutionary press. Faced with new challenges of the digital age and fierce competition from social networks, Hanoi Moi needs to promote digital transformation, improve professional ethics and professionalism of the journalist team, to both keep up with modern trends and maintain the political mettle and "soul" of revolutionary press.

Journalist Ho Quang Loi, former Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper, former Head of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda Department, former Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, shared: "In just 2 years, the newspaper will reach the 70-year milestone. I believe that my colleagues at Hanoi Moi will continue to show their love for Hanoi, through their work, to contribute to building the newspaper to develop more and more towards becoming a multimedia press agency, a newspaper that is truly the cultural face of the Capital, serving the cause of building a cultured, civilized, and modern Hanoi."

Over the past 68 years, Hanoi Moi has received many noble awards from the Party and the State: Ho Chi Minh Medal, Labor Medals of various ranks, Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, and especially the title of Labor Hero. Many of Hanoi Moi's journalistic works have won high prizes at the National Press Awards (formerly the National Press Awards) and other press awards from the Central Government, ministries, branches and Hanoi City, which is a testament to the unceasing creativity and outstanding professional quality of the Capital's journalism team.

Entering a new stage of development, Hanoi Moi Newspaper has been making many strong innovations in both content and operation methods. The Party Committee and Editorial Board have implemented a series of comprehensive innovation projects, aiming to improve the quality of journalistic works, modernize facilities and management models, and gradually build a "Converged Newsroom" - a modern and professional digital newsroom.

The launch of the new electronic interface and unified content management software has marked an important step in the digital transformation process of Hanoi Moi Newspaper. The entire process of producing and publishing news and articles - from reporters, editors to editorial leaders - is managed uniformly on a single platform. Thanks to that, Hanoi Moi can exploit a variety of forms of expression: from traditional articles, press photos to Longform, Megastory, Video clips, interactive graphics, meeting the requirements of modern multimedia journalism.

In particular, the information monitoring system integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and Vietnamese natural language processing to help the editorial office detect and warn of harmful information in real time, thereby having quick and accurate responses. This is a step forward demonstrating the proactive, creative and integrated thinking of the capital's press, contributing to protecting a safe and healthy media space. In particular, the newspaper also focuses on developing Longform, Infographic, Podcast, Video clip, and livestream formats to expand its reach and increase its appeal to readers, especially young people.

These innovations not only help Hanoi Moi expand its readership and increase social interaction, but also create a foundation for forming a "digital culture" rich in identity - modernity - humanity, affirming the pioneering role of the Capital Party Newspaper in the process of integration and sustainable development.

Regarding the development orientation in the coming time, Party Secretary and Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper Nguyen Minh Duc affirmed: Hanoi Moi Newspaper will continue to maintain its principles and goals, constantly innovate its presentation methods, promote digital transformation associated with content innovation, and spread information to a wide range of readers at home and abroad. In parallel with the implementation of the Digital Transformation Project with a vision of 2030 - 2045, the Newspaper is making efforts to upgrade its facilities and repair its headquarters in accordance with the City's regulations, creating a solid foundation for modern journalism activities.

The consistent goal of Hanoi Moi is to be increasingly "professional, humane, modern", strong in political propaganda, sharp in political genres, vividly and attractively reflecting the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws and the real-life dynamics of the people; contributing practical solutions to the cause of building and developing the capital and the country.

On the propaganda front, Hanoi Moi clearly identified the central task of deeply reflecting the achievements in socio-economic development, national defense and security of the Capital, associated with bringing the Resolution of the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee into life and preparing for the 14th Congress of the Party. At the same time, the Newspaper continued to propagate the strategic resolutions of the Politburo such as Resolution 57-NQ/TW on science, technology and innovation; Resolution 59-NQ/TW on international integration; Resolution 66-NQ/TW on improving the law; Resolution 68-NQ/TW on private economic development...

In particular, Hanoi Moi focuses on deeply propagating the thoughts and guiding viewpoints of General Secretary To Lam on great national unity, international integration, institutional breakthroughs, private economic development and national protection in the new context - thereby contributing to spreading confidence, arousing the desire to contribute and the spirit of innovation and creativity throughout society.
