This event not only marks the first time Vietnam has hosted the signing of a multilateral United Nations convention on cybercrime, but also affirms its position and capacity for global integration in the digital age. The Hanoi Convention – officially named the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime – was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 24, 2024, and is open for signing from October 25-26, 2025 in Hanoi.

This is considered the first global criminal justice treaty in over 20 years, aiming to establish a common international legal framework for combating cybercrime, sharing electronic evidence, cooperating in cross-border investigations, and supporting vulnerable nations in cybersecurity capabilities. The event is being prepared on a very large scale: More than 100 national delegations and international organizations have confirmed their attendance as of early October 2025; in addition to the main signing ceremony, there will be approximately 8 discussion sessions, 32 thematic workshops, and more than 20 international exhibition booths on technology, digital transformation, and cybercrime prevention.

Vietnam's selection as the host country for the signing ceremony reflects the nation's strong commitment to promoting the digital rule of law, multilateral cooperation, and sustainable development in cyberspace. As a Gold Sponsor, Agribank aims to contribute to the success of this important diplomatic and cybersecurity milestone, while reaffirming the bank's strong commitment to protecting its customers and ensuring their safety in the digital world.

In an era where banking and financial transactions are increasingly conducted on digital platforms, the risks from cybercrime and sophisticated fraud necessitate a critical need for security, not only for businesses and national organizations but also for individual customers. Agribank always prioritizes the protection of personal information, data security, and transaction safety within its digital banking system – eBanking and Mobile Banking.

Agribank has been implementing numerous security solutions to enhance its ability to prevent and combat cybercrime and support customers in safely using digital services. Specifically, in 2024, Agribank detected and handled hundreds of cyberattacks, blocked over one hundred fake brand websites, assisted hundreds of customers who were victims of online fraud, and conducted tens of millions of system scans to protect its infrastructure. In 2025, Agribank will continue to invest in modernizing its technology infrastructure, implementing its IT Development Strategy and Digital Transformation Plan to 2025, with a vision to 2030, focusing on data security solutions, cyberattack prevention, access protection, and system security, giving customers peace of mind when transacting on digital platforms.

In addition, Agribank regularly advises customers to exercise caution: Always carefully check website, fanpage, and link information, and verify through official channels before conducting transactions; do not provide OTP codes, passwords, or personal information to anyone; only transact through the bank's official channels. Agribank also proactively informs customers through its website, fanpage, and transaction points (over 2,000 points nationwide) about common scams such as fake SMS messages, emails, and calls from the bank, or impersonating police officers or prosecutors. Through this, Agribank hopes that each customer transaction is not just a simple operation, but a transaction protected in a secure digital environment and guided by a responsible bank.

By participating in international events such as the Hanoi Convention, Agribank further affirms its desire to connect its intrinsic values with its mission of protecting customers from new risks in the digital age. Agribank customers can rest assured that the bank not only provides convenient, fast, and modern services, but also acts as a reliable partner in every transaction, whether traditional or digital.

In conjunction with the "Hanoi Convention" event themed "Combating Cybercrime - Sharing Responsibility - Towards the Future," Agribank believes that this collaboration will contribute to spreading the value of cooperation and shared responsibility among nations and organizations, as well as between banks, customers, and the community in the fight for a safer online environment.

Agribank is committed to continuing to invest heavily in technology infrastructure, enhancing information security capabilities, diversifying security solutions – from eKYC facial recognition to Soft-OTP and token-based transaction authentication – while continuously updating risk warning programs and guiding customers on how to prevent and respond to risks. By partnering with Agribank, each customer is contributing to building a digital ecosystem that is safe, transparent, and sustainable.

In conjunction with the signing ceremony of the "Hanoi Convention," Agribank commits to continuing to play a pioneering role in building a prosperous and sustainable digital future for Vietnam and the international community.
