On October 24th, the Economic & Urban Newspaper, in collaboration with the Steering Committee of the "Vietnamese People Prioritize Using Vietnamese Goods" campaign in Hanoi and the People's Committee of Tay Ho Ward, organized a seminar on "Developing Hanoi's Traditional Craft Villages in conjunction with building OCOP product brands".
The seminar was attended by leaders from various departments, agencies, associations, businesses, artisans from traditional craft villages, and a large number of consumers from Hanoi. Notably, within the framework of the seminar, 13 booths showcasing typical OCOP products from Hanoi introduced unique products, contributing to promoting the image of Vietnamese goods to the public.
At the seminar, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Dinh Hoa said that the "One Commune One Product - OCOP" program has become a "lever" to help localities standardize production processes, improve quality, packaging, traceability, expand markets, and at the same time create more motivation to develop the rural economy in a sustainable direction.
According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, the city has over 3,400 OCOP products, leading the country in both quantity and quality. This includes 6 products achieving 5-star certification, 22 potential 5-star products, over 1,500 4-star products, and over 1,700 3-star products. Approximately 25% of these are products from traditional craft villages, demonstrating the important role of this sector in the OCOP program.
Traditional craft village OCOP products are increasingly asserting their position thanks to a rigorous evaluation process regarding quality, design, and product stories, contributing to enhancing brand value and income for local people.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, stated that, in response to the new demands of industrialization, modernization, and digital transformation, Hanoi City has determined that developing traditional craft villages in conjunction with building OCOP product brands is not only an economic task but also a profound socio-cultural mission.
Each OCOP product is not simply a commodity, but the culmination of the intellect, the craftsmanship, and the soul of the Vietnamese people, serving as a bridge to spread the essence of the capital city – a source of pride for Vietnamese goods.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi - Editor-in-Chief of the Economic & Urban Newspaper, commented that, in light of new development requirements, developing Hanoi's craft villages in conjunction with building OCOP product brands is not only an inevitable direction but also an important strategy to enhance the value of Vietnamese goods, contributing to affirming the position of the capital's products in domestic and international markets.
