In the decisive match, the Vietnamese women's team fielded a lineup consisting of Truong Thao My, Bui Thu Hang, Truong Thao Vy, and Nguyen Thi Tieu Duy. Despite not playing much due to injury, Thao Vy still managed to make her mark with an assist that set up a favorable start to the game. For the remainder of the match, her teammates took on the role of scoring and maintaining the tempo of the game.
Truong Thao My was the standout player, scoring 11 points, the most in the game. Her accurate two-point shots helped Vietnam create a safe lead in the second half. Her movement and ball handling skills also helped her teammates control the tempo and minimize unnecessary turnovers.
Alongside Thao My, Bui Thu Hang had an effective game with 6 points. Although her score wasn't as high , Thu Hang made a strong impression with her defensive ability, constantly contesting, blocking, and winning back the ball from her opponents. A late layup helped the Vietnamese team close out the game and secure a 21-16 victory.
Thu Hang's consistent performance helped the team maintain their advantage, especially since Thao Vy wasn't at her best. The coach and coaching staff expect Thu Hang's stable form to continue as the team enters the semi-finals, where every match is a knockout.
The match against Singapore was also a positive performance from the team after a less-than-ideal start in the first game of the tournament. Securing a place in the semi-finals early allows the team to be more proactive in adjusting tactics and personnel for the remainder of the competition.
The Vietnamese women's 3x3 basketball team will compete in the SEA Games semi-finals tomorrow, December 11th.
