Ms. Duong Thi Le, Director of the Cooperative, said that although the braised pork with shrimp paste dish is highly appreciated for its quality, its consumption is still limited. In 2023, the Cooperative received support from all levels of the Farmers' Association from production, business, making documents to participate in OCOP products, stamping, labeling, packaging... so by the end of the year, the product was recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards. On the product packaging, there are stamps and labels, clearly stating the origin, ingredients, production process, QR code... to help consumers easily identify and feel secure about the quality and origin.
After being recognized as a 3-star OCOP product, the Cooperative brought Quyet Thang shrimp paste steamed meat products to participate in fairs and trade promotion activities in many provinces across the country. Thanks to maintaining a good chain from production to consumption, affirming the quality, the Cooperative has gradually expanded its market. Currently, on average, each month, the Cooperative consumes 3-3.5 tons of shrimp paste steamed meat to many provinces across the country (doubled compared to before). With a selling price of 300,000 VND/kg, each month the Cooperative has a revenue of 90 to more than 100 million VND, and a yearly revenue of about 1.2 billion VND. In the coming time, the unit will continue to build factories, invest in more machinery and new technology to expand production scale, and increase the "star" of the product.
According to the Economic Department of Lang Giang commune, after being recognized as OCOP, the products have affirmed their quality, the production scale has also been expanded, contributing to increasing value and income. Typically, Yen My Agricultural Cooperative, Yen Vinh village has Yen My honey products recognized as 3-star OCOP. After being awarded a star in 2023, the products are available at many stores and agents in and outside the province, the consumption output increased by 30% compared to before. Or like Dong Thinh straw mushrooms of Dong Thinh Phat Cooperative, Dong Thinh village, after being recognized as 3-star OCOP in 2023, the consumption output nearly doubled compared to the previous year. Each year, after deducting labor and raw material costs, the unit earns hundreds of millions of dong in profit.
Create a chain of links and expand the market
Currently, Lang Giang commune has 8 3-star OCOP products. These products were recognized 1-3 years ago. To improve the product, the participants in the OCOP program have invested in improving the form, packaging and quality of the products. At the same time, full information on packaging labeling, stamping, trademark protection, and traceability helps consumers easily learn about the products.
Along with that, Lang Giang commune has implemented solutions on promotion, label support, trade promotion and digital transformation application in consumption. In fact, the products: Quyet Thang shrimp paste stewed meat, Yen My honey, Dong Thinh straw mushrooms, Tan Hung honey, Thuy Thuong leaf yeast wine, yellow sticky rice wine with leaf yeast displayed at the province's OCOP fairs, supply-demand connection events in some provinces... are highly appreciated for their quality and competitiveness.
To facilitate people and cooperatives in producing OCOP products, the Commune People's Committee directed the specialized department to coordinate with villages and cooperatives to review and evaluate the current status of raw material areas for products and build a long-term development roadmap, avoiding spontaneous situations or shortages of raw materials during peak seasons. The Commune encourages people to plant more fruit trees among acacia forests to increase the flowering season, creating favorable conditions for beekeeping. Planning safe pig farming areas to increase the supply of pork for shrimp paste production... At the same time, the Commune supports OCOP establishments to register for food hygiene and safety certification, electronic traceability, and standardize packaging so that products can easily be brought to supermarkets, convenience stores, and e-commerce platforms. Some establishments have initially sold on digital platforms, with revenue increasing by 15-20% compared to before.
Developing OCOP products in conjunction with gradually improving product quality and expanding raw material areas in Lang Giang commune has brought about clear results, helping production models become more stable and increasing revenue. On that basis, the locality continues to maintain and replicate the OCOP model in a sustainable manner, building a brand for local agricultural products. Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan, Head of the Commune Economic Department, said that for new participants in the OCOP program, the Department assigns each officer in charge to guide from the production stage to completing related procedures and documents for product recognition. At the same time, it is important to support the formation of a linkage chain, ensuring that products in the same group will be connected and consumed together, and local specialties will be selected in association with rural tourism development.
