Nam Dinh Green Steel Club changes head coach

On the afternoon of October 24, Nam Dinh Green Steel Club officially announced the appointment of coach Nguyen Trung Kien to replace Mr. Vu Hong Viet as head coach of the Southern team.

Meanwhile, coach Vu Hong Viet will become the CEO of Nam Dinh. This will be a new turning point for the reigning V.League champions in a season that has had many changes.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien was born in 1979, trained at Nam Dinh training center, playing in the midfielder position. He used to play for Nam Dinh, Saigon Port and was called up to the Vietnam national team. In 2023, Mr. Kien was appointed as Technical Director of Nam Dinh Green Steel Club, thereby working with coach Vu Hong Viet to win two V-League championships and one Vietnam Super Cup in the past three seasons.

After two consecutive championship seasons, Nam Dinh Blue Steel fell into crisis with a bad start in the 2025-2026 season, when they only got 7 points after 7 rounds. In the two international arenas AFC Champions League Two and Shopee Cup, the team won three and lost one after four matches.

Coach Nguyen Trung Kien will take over the task right from the afternoon training session on October 24 of Nam Dinh Green Steel.
