Yesterday, a source from The Athletic said that MU approached Brighton through an intermediary to learn about the conditions for buying Baleba.

The 21-year-old Cameroonian talent has three years left on his contract with the Amex Stadium team and is one of the most sought-after midfielders in the Premier League recently.

Moved to Brighton from Lille for a fee of 25 million pounds, Baleba's value has now almost tripled, to over 70 million pounds.

The MU transfer board and coach Ruben Amorim want to add a mobile midfielder who can both intercept from afar and carry the ball upfield.

Carlos Baleba is an ideal target thanks to his good physical condition, two seasons of experience in the Premier League and high development potential.

He will add more strength to the Red Devils' midfield, in the context that Mainoo, Ugarte, Casemiro, Collyer... have not yet created peace of mind.

However, after MU spent a lot of money on the attack, many people doubted the club's financial capacity in the Baleba deal - currently valued by Brighton at 90 million pounds.

Speaking at the latest annual fans' forum, Brighton chief executive Paul Barber revealed:

"MU have not contacted me about Baleba. So, from all angles, speculation is just speculation. We always try to ensure we sell our good players at the right time.

Carlos Baleba is a great talent with a great future ahead of him. We hope he will stay here for many years. However, that depends on the development of the transfer market, which is very unpredictable."
