According to the Department of Hydrometeorology, the phenomenon of “Sun halo” often appears on days with good weather, the sky is covered by a thin layer of clouds called Cs clouds. This is a very thin, transparent layer of clouds, existing at an average altitude of 6-8km above the ground and is made up of ice crystals.

The corona is formed as a phenomenon of light refraction when shining through this layer of ice crystals. It is different from the rainbow which is a phenomenon of light refraction through the atmosphere with many water particles. The radius of the circle corresponding to the corona is 22 degrees from our eyes. So it is also called "22 degree halo".

“This is a phenomenon that is sometimes observed in Vietnam and is not an unusual sign in nature,” said the Department of Hydrometeorology.
